I think the book is probably worth a look if this article is anything to go by.

Very interesting in breath of approach, but sad that it all seems to have started with the Turkish Invasion of 1974.....only one mention of 10 years of TC enclaves prior to that date

However, article at least very worth a read

She does say that "...for many people the Cyprus Problem had been solved by division and just had to be accepted as such." - which is the attitude of some Cypriots to this day

In the article, she is of course only talking about some of her experiences prior to, and during, her research.

The article is bound to be limited in scope, indeed one could hardly expect any one person to have acquired a completely comprehensive, unbiased overall view of such a complex series of events

For instance the Political machinations going on behind the scenes - British, Greek, Turkish, American & no doubt others would have been all but invisible to a 'Professor of Anthropology' who would be mainly interested in what people thought and said about the events. She would only be able to relay the attitudes of those that she met, and set that in a framework of known, reported events

I think that it promises to be a great read - listening to many viewpoints results in a better, more balanced picture

Cyprus problem! What Cyprus problem? It's alright as it is - I don't see any problems.

No1Doyen..

You need to be a Cypriot to see the problem.....are you?

For those who want a good read and also learn about the recent history of Cyprus from a true Cypriot, i recommend Sevgul Uludag's "Oysters with missing pearls"
