Can anyone please tell me how long on average a small letter we take to get the Alsancak from London.

I put North Cyprus and the Mersin Turkey on the address.

Thank you for your responses. Louise

Normally ten days. Problem you may have because you put North Cyprus. Never do that as things go missing. Its Mersin 10 Turkey. Good luck.

You have no chance of getting any mail with Alsancak or North Cyprus on the envelope.

You may have 50/50 chance with the correct address and can take weeks

You should never ever write North Cyprus in any mail

Always use, KKTC, Mersin: 10 Turkey

Using the word Cyprus in any mail will direct the mail to the South of the island, the Greek view the North as terriority occupied by the Turkish Army and your chances of receiving your mail are slim

Ok thanks for all your replys, may try again without North Cyprus in the address. Obviously I put the name of the place and then the following.

Do we think we will have more luck with this.

Alsancak,

Kyrenia

KKTC,

Mersin: 10 Turkey

How do we receive our post in Alsancak, do we just keep going to the post office? How much does it cost to get a PO box and is there a long wait?

Thanks

Alsancak post office do deliver to house (well, to mine, at any rate ) - although it tends to be about once a week

If you don't have a post box at the front, they may just leave it on the garden wall, or safely tucked in a bush

Not many people seem to have letterboxes here.

I know that this sounds blindingly obvious - but do make sure that your house number is clearly displayed - & preferably on the box!

In my younger days, when I had to visit people's houses, you would have been amazed at the people who's idea of giving directions was "You can't miss it!" - and then neglected to display their house number

Went to PO this morning in Alsancak. Apparantly deliveries are usually daily - but the chap is on holiday back next week .

If you want a PO Box you have to go and apply at the new year and if any people do not renew there box you can have it for a year - then same rule applies following year - you of course get first refusal on the box (within a set time limit)
