Despite of many difficulties especially the international isolations

Cyprus Turkish investors have succeeded to make investments in the TRNC.

Within the framework of the Incentive Law, a total of 399 new

investments have received incentive certificates in the last ten years.

Speaking to the TAK news agency, the President of the State Planning

Organization's Economic Planning Office Odul Muhtaroglu said that the

Incentive Law aims to attract both local and foreign entrepreneurs to

make investments in the TRNC.

'Besides the Cyprus Turkish investors, businessmen from Turkey and third

countries have also received incentives' she noted.

Mrs Muhtaroglu also added that the new fixed investments are envisaging

employment for 24 thousand people.

I'm trying to rack my brains thinking of what even one of the new investments will be. Oh! Hang on, I've thought of one - how about property? )

An incentive law to bring in foreign investors ?????? Would those incentives be just about every legal hurdle that it is possible to put in an investors way. Methinks government speaks with forked tongue

Since when did the TRNC government actually need to have have real job vacancies before taking on new staff?

Sounds good but typical politician speak really. There are projects on going that have created jobs to build hembut it would be a real incentive if each of these projects were to say exactly how many jobs there will be needed once completed and of what type??

I see a lot of activity going on at Bafra and the new marina as well as the new roads from Kaplica to Bafra and Famagusta up towards Karpaz, most workers seem to be from the mainland though living in tented villages.

Once complete then I am sure that new jobs will be created but where will they come from?

Building and infrastructure work is beneath your average TC, he/she much prefers the luxury of a 'government' job where you are guranteed a good wage and fat state pension regardless of ability or work ethic. As Smooth says, the majority of these supposed 24000 'jobs' will be done by mainlanders/illegals.

Or am I just being 'cynical'

Speed camera polishers and speed hump painters and decorators.

Supermarket trolley wheel repairers.

Forklift drivers to remove parked cars park blocking pavements.

Cyprus shrug translators.

The above challenging jobs, aimed at and reserved exclusively for ambitious, career orientated TC's, should provide gainful employment and complete job satisfaction for approx. 25,000 for the forseeable next 25 years.
