Hi Nemika, my baby boy is 19 months old and we are in exactly same situation. I posted similar question two days ago and NO ONE replied! I saw your postings a few months ago and I wrote to you if you can remember but that time we were still in U.K. Now we moved to N.C. for good and yes, it is very, very lonly here if you are new to the area. Would be lovely to meet but I am a bit further than most people, who as I understood usually live in or around Girne. We are in Bahceler, Iskele, which is about 20 min. from Famagusta. Hope to here from you anyway!

Hi Nemika, we moved over from U.K. 2 months ago and now renting a place near Iskele. The reason we came this way is because of my husband's business partner who is from this area, so that's how it's started. It's early to say whether we like it here or not because it's been quite a short time yet. I hope we will make it here because there are many positive sides here but of cause there are many negative once as well. One of them being away from your friends and family. As I remember you are somewhere near Girne so I am sure it will be more easy to find some English speaking friends. Because of the heat at the moment we don't travel a lot so I haven't been anywhere yet apart from our local beach, etc.

Just though would you like to exchange MSN contacts so we could chat more easily? Mine is: ayvalik99@hotmail.co.uk Or Skype: wonderland777

I am Natalie by the way, nice to meet you

Sunset beach is in Lapta on the coast hence the beach! turn right from girne at the crossroad for rose garden holiday village, you will know if you have gone to far when you come across a hideous vulgar construction excuse for a Safa hotel complex.

Its the summer break which is a dificult time for parents to find a place with nursery facilities for the sprogs, I will say and this might seem like a bit of a drag for parents but in Nicosia there are some excellent nursery schools and they charge as little as 300YTL for 8-5 monday to friday and 8-1 on a saturday per month, my daughter has been going to a nursery since the age of 9 months she is now 16 months intergrated speaking bits of basic turkish and loves every minute at the school.

Hi Nemika, I have a friend over here who has a ten month old adorable son, but is finding it very hard to meet people of a like. She lives just past Esentepe. If you would like to e-mail off board I will give you her details, she would love that and so would her son. Thanks, Marilyn.

Hi, I have a 13 month old boy too, I have just started taking him to a nursery in catalkoy, he does 3 mornings a week, just so he could have some interaction with other children. His first week went well, but knocked his routine out a bit.

Our 20 month old goes to Kings Court a couple of half days a week, and to the toddler group at Black Olive on Mondays, but both in Alsancak are quite a hike from where you are, he also goes to a Turkish speaking nursery one morning a week, but again in Lapta, long way for you to travel. All are very good.

Hi Mums, (&Dads!)

Little'uns Eh!

We've got a daughter, 24, getting married next year and a son, 19, at UNI.

You wait till they're teenagers!!!

Seriously though, I used to know someone who helped set up netmums.com in the UK. They have grown into an excellent support, help and advice network with hundreds of active local groups organising meetings events etc.

It might be an idea for you to contact them to see if they could give help or advice for setting up netmumscyprus??

It must be worth a try?

(61, been there done that! Got hoarse singing 'Wheels on The Bus'! Teaching them to spell cat & dog on their plates in Alphabites is much more fun than Phonetics!)

Best wishes.
