If you have been offered employment will a work permit allow you to stay legally or do you have to apply for temporary residency too?

with full time work permit can be here legally you cant have residency as well. residency does not allow you to work. If you have work permit and you leave work or dont want to work you have seven days from the date your work permit expired or finished to go out of the country and just have tourist visa of 90 days or reapply for residency. That was the situation uptil recently but as you know can change

A work permit overrides the need for a residency permit. Re: msg 4, you have 30 days to leave following the end of your permit.

Don't get a residency permit if you're in line to get a work permit. I had one for a few months before I found a job here and it was a MASSIVE hassle to deal with once I tried to get a work permit. I kept going to the immigration office who said they couldn't cancel the residency until I got a certain paper from the work office, who told me they couldn't give me that paper until I didn't have a residency permit anymore. Beaurocracy in action. Eventually I persuaded the immigration office to cancel it effective immediately, but they kept warning me I'd be deported or something. I wasn't, they were just lazy and somewhat ignorant. So yeah, don't get a residency permit unless you want to waste a lot of time at immigration.

Just out of interest, can you get a work permit by post, or can you get someone else to pick it up for you?

I was just thinking of the entertainers doing a one-off and flying in and out of the TRNC, say over a weekend.
