President Derviş Eroğlu’s Special Representative Kudret Özersay is holding contacts in the Swedish capital Stockholm. Özersay who informed his collocutors on the Cyprus Turkish Side’s positions regarding the Cyprus negotiations process met yesterday with the President of the Foreign relations sub-committee in the Swedish Parliament Goran Linbland



The two held a joint press conference at the end of their meeting.

Speaking at the press conference held at the Swedish Parliament, the President’s Special Advisor said that he conveyed to Mr. Linbland the Turkish Side’s positions regarding the talks and reminded him of the responsibility that fell on international actors to ensure the success of the process.



For his part, the President of the Foreign relations sub-committee in the Swedish Parliament Goran Linbland said that great responsibility fell on the European Union in motivating both peoples on the island towards a solution.



Expressing support to the Turkish Sde’s positions, Linbland said that the leader of the Greek Cypriot Side Demetris Christofias needed to be encouraged to work towards a solution.

He said the Tukish Side had clearly demonstrated its good will towards a solution.



As part of his other contacts in the Swedish capital, the President’s Special Advisor met with other high level officials, including the State Secretary of the Swedish Foreign Ministry. He also met with Swedish MPs, ambassadors and civil society representatives during which he exchanged views on the implementation of the EU Direct Trade Regulation.
