You'll probably not believe this, BUT -

You need a licence for a chain saw!

How does having a licence make someone an instantly experienced chainsaw operator, or could this be just yet another illogical money-making rip-off scam?

If there were safety reasons involved, which included a chainsaw operator's competence test costed into the licence fee, fair enough - but it's just illogical the way it is!

Tenakatou,

I think that the licence is issued by the Forestry dept, - it's probably something to do with chopping trees down (my guess!) rather than competence.

moonoverwater,

Sorry, you're dead right of course - you just need a licence to 'operate' one

Stay safe!!

kc: Not so long ago I think they 'clobbered' a TC chainsaw contractor who was out on a jobbie. Wasn't his saw confiscated and him fined - wasn't this incident reported in 'Cyprus Today'?

For anyone's info., the Forestry Dept. is just near the Girne Hospital - on the other side of the road. Sometimes they have good shrubs and trees for sale, too.
