Hi everybody, yesterday morning I went down to the Bayrak studios to record the Saturday morning SOUL TRAIN show as a stand-in for Max Pickup whilst he is in on holiday in the UK. The recording went well but unfortunatley, after I had left the studio, someone inadvertantly erased a large part of the show. I hadn't time to record the show again, so the show will go out in the same format, except that CAN GARZI will be presenting it. These are some of the songs which will be on the show:- Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell (Ain't No Mountain High Enough) - Four Tops (Reach Out I'll Be There) - Venicia Wilson (Don't Snap Your Fingers) - Roberta Flack (You Are My Heaven) - Smokey Robinson (I Second That Emotion) - Three Degrees (Take Good Care Of yourself) - Stevie Wonder (I Was Made To Love Her) - Temptations (Just My Imagination) - Crystals (Then He Kissed Me) and Martha & Vandellas (Heatwave) plus others Saturday Morning - 10am - on 87.8 and 105 fm Hope you can tune in DJ MIKE

Coo, Soul Train, that takes me back, still remember the running of the Soul Train show on UK TV about 28 years ago, in fact still have a load of them on video, Luther Vandross, Alexander O'Neal, Womack and Womack, Ashford and Simpson etc. Might get them out sometime, ooops, no video player anymore.

Hi Yrret, I remember that show as well. By mentioning it, you've taken me back a bit also. To be honest I'd forgotten all about it. This particular show on Bayrak is mainly Soul and Tamla Motown music. The show's regular host is Max Pickup who is back in the UK at the moment. I've been hosting it for a couple of weeks for him and should have done so this week, but an accident in the editing studio (the show is pre-recorded) caused a lot of the show to be erased. As I didn't have time to go back and re-record it, another presenter, by the name of Can Gazi will present the show. I will be back for one more show next Saturday. Max, who is an expert on Soul and Tamla music, will be back in the 'hot seat' on the first Sunday in September. If you would like to hear the show online, then type - BRTK in your search engine - click on the BRT homepage -in the right hand corner of the homepage click on BAYRAK.INT.LIVE Enjoy the show, DJ MIKE

Many thanks for the request. Come on folks, surely there are more of you wanting requests played. PLEASE don't choose the more obscure ones that are impossible to find. DJ MIKE |

Hi branwell - message 6 - many thanks for the offer, but to be quite honest, I'm not really bothered about obscure tracks, as I would very rarely play them and they take up valuable computer space. My own show is the JUKEBOX SHOW which goes out every Sunday morning at 10am and I play all genres of music from any era. Max Pickup is the man who regularly presents the SOUL TRAIN show, (I am just standing in for him for a month), and being an expert on Soul - Tamla and Northern Soul music, he has a vast ammount of Stax, Hi and Goldwax etc; as well as other labels. Hi apc2010 - message 7 - yes, a lot of my music is on my laptop. I transfer the music via 'memory stick' to the radio station computer for each show. I am very interested in the conversion programme you have. Could you Email me at djmike@n-cyprus.com with your phone number and I will call you. Many many thanks. DJ MIKE

Hi, apc20120 - Yes I do get people who deliberately try to catch me out - some succeed and some don't, it all depends on either - how rare the record is - if the record has been deleted - or, is the record not showing on the download site files. One record I have been trying to find, unsuccessfully, for a long time now is called, ALLEY BOOGIE by Georgia White and recorded in the 1930's. It is a cover version of an earlier recording of the same song by a female blues singer in the 1920's. The song was used as the theme song in the TV series 'Love Soup'. If anybody knows how I can get it, would they lplease let me know. Many thanks. DJ MIKE

Hi I'm not trying to 'catch you out'...and, to be honest, most soul fans wouldn't regard 'Soul Man' (Stax), Dark End of the Street (Goldwax) or 'Take Me to the River' (Hi) as obscure ...but this is Cyprus after all!

Hi branwell - I never gave it a thought that you were trying to catch me out. I agree that 'Soul Man' - 'Dark End Of The Street and 'Take Me To The River' are not obscure to most Soul music fans. It's just that I have a massive ammount of music from all genres and if I were to keep every song I ever copied or downloaded I would have hundreds of thousands, so I just keep what I think I may use. If someone asked me for an obscure one then I would try and find it. It seems you are a big fan of Soul music, so when Max gets back from the UK, you should give his Saturday morning show a coat of listening to. He plays records from all the labels including Stax - Hi and Goldwax. Ask him for a request as well - he will play you a song/s. Many thanks for the thought though, and if I can't find an obscure Soul track, I'll get in touch with you. DJ MIKE

Hi everybody, for all those that regularly tune into 105 fm on Bayrak radio - this morning, for some reason, there is no 105 fm signal, so try 87.8 fm instead. That frequency is OK. DJ MIKE
