That looks like the Nilesat Free-to-air package, which you can pick up with ANY digital Satellite box and a 90cm (or preferably, 1M dish) for FREE...

For Premier league etc, I believe that you would need to pay a subscription, and would need a satellite receiver that accepts the appropriate subscription card

Steve, answer me this - honestly - was your posting a bit of self-advertising?

I do wish that people were honest when they post about 'amazing new deals that I just got' on here, and made it clear that they are actually the 'proprietor, employee, friend or relative' of the company that they are promoting.

If you start off with a lie, who is going to trust you thereafter?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with saying " 'My mate Paul' or 'My cousin Ahmet' will do you a really good deal with..." whatever...

Anyway, I wish you all the best with your venture.

judyr,

If you go to their website http://satellitecyprus.com/ you will see that they supply a 90cm dish - the only BBC you will get is the free-to-air BBC news channel - NO ITV

Personally I would recommend a 1 metre dish - I have a 90cm dish and get occasional breakup in very heavy rain.

Keithcaley.........What was the purpose of your posts and upon what basis do you make these claims?

Can no-one recommend a service on this forum any longer without members like you coming out and rubbishing what is a perfectly legitimate recommendation.

This forum is for the people of the TRNC. Unfortunately, Members like you are bringing this forum into disrepute.

For what reason?..........Jealousy, Hatred - What motivates you to make such ridiculous claims?

washerman,

you asked "What motivates you to make such ridiculous claims? "

I ask "Which particular claims, and why are they ridiculous?"

I looked at their website, and studied the advertised package and then commented on it.

Did YOU look at the website and verify the detail against my comments?

I don't think that I 'rubbished' the recommendation in any way

I did ask if it was a legitimate 'customer' recommendation - the poster is perfectly free to answer that question, or not, as he chooses.

The reason that I asked, is that one sees a lot of 'first posts' ostensibly from 'satisfied customers' which are actually amateurish attempts at advertising - I was merely pointing out that it is perfectly permissible to advertise your friend's, relative's, or employer's business openly...

I DID wish them well with the venture, and I WAS, incidentally answering judyr's question in msg 2, to which the poster did not respond.

Incidentally. I think that Nilesat is FINE - I use it

You accuse the poster:

"Steve, answer me this - honestly - was your posting a bit of self-advertising?"

"I do wish that people were honest when they post about 'amazing new deals that I just got' on here, and made it clear that they are actually the 'proprietor, employee, friend or relative' of the company that they are promoting."

Totally unfounded and untrue accusation.

Why would someone need to 'falsely' recommend a service that has already been recommended and that is already advertised on this forum?

I ask you again, what motivates you?

Proger1, the advertised phone number is exactly the same "The Internet Club" number I had to call when there was a problem with my Internet connection. I know the number by heart. If Paul denies it I'll apologise - but I reserve the right to prove that I'm right.

P.S. Why would member Washerman suddenly be the fierce defender of new member bamboo?!

Washerman Paul, remember on the other thread where you were trying to be sarcastic and I had said I will see what transpires, this would be the same thing.

If Dutch is right then I was being sarcastic and if he is wrong then I am being nice, this is what you call edging your bets as you said to me, I always thought it was hedging your bets by the way!

It does seem strange that Hans can quote the phone number or are you just being the middle man with your site.

I would also have to say that it would be strange to be offered Tea in a Dutch house but you never can tell these days, maybe Hans is trying to be more British

Ok, I'll leave you to your own devices. I only thought you were rather abrupt with Keith to be honest and then when Hans posted it gave me the perfect chance to come back at you for the waste of bandwidth, waste of electricity comments. I don't enjooy wasting my time answering posts to someone who will give petty comments like that as an answer so please remember that when posting to people.

You said you had an exile, self imposed I think, maybe you forgot that people are entitled to write their opinion without being attacked for it.

Washerman,

You state "Totally unfounded and untrue accusation."

I never accused anyone of anything; I asked a question, and I explained what motivated me to ask the question - which, incidentally, remains unanswered

As for your question "Why would someone need to 'falsely' recommend a service that has already been recommended and that is already advertised on this forum?" -

I can only say that I have no idea! - Do YOU know?

You ask ME what my motivation is - that one is easy

'Passing on information, and what I feel is good advice' just about sums it up, I think.

I might feel tempted to ask "What's YOUR motivation?" - but that could be construed as a "personal attack" in contravention of Forum Rule 3, so I won't

Washerman,

Reading the other posts, I 'think' that I now realise that you are 'The Proprietor' of the Company in question.

I'm sorry, I hadn't realised that !

I now understand why you have got all 'defensive'...

But ask yourself this - did I post anything about your service, the satellite that is used, the equipment that is needed, or the channels that can be received that was UNTRUE?

I thought that I gave a fair assessment of the Package !

Anyway, you know what they say - "All Publicity is GOOD Publicity"

Best wishes with the business, I hope that you do well

Washerman,

Firstly, I had not noticed that there was in fact a 'Banner Advertisement' for your Company at the top of the page - remiss of me I know, but there you go - I actually found your website by 'Googling' 'satellitecyprus.com'.

Also I was not aware that anyone else had ever made any recommendations for your service - I don't read every single post you know!

I asked 'bamboo' a question - "was your posting a bit of self-advertising?" - if you are taking it upon yourself to answer the question on his behalf, then of course, I believe you.

If bamboo is upset or offended by my question, then of course, I apologise for any upset or offence caused.

I did not 'ACCUSE' bamboo of anything, and I am prepared to accept your statement that he is not "related or, owning or, being a relation of the owner of the business".

However, you missed out 'FRIEND'

Is bamboo a FRIEND of yours by any wild chance? - as WELL as being a thoroughly satisfied customer, of course

Sorry for delay in replying but not been on here for couple of days.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I did not know this would happen!Christ have some of you lot out there not got anything better to do than criticise and slag off people trying to earn a living!!!

I can assure everyone i am a customer of Pauls, he did not know i was going to post this and certainly never asked me too! I suppose that wont be proof enough for many though!

Since having it installed it has been absolutely brilliant, not once has it froze or any loss of picture. Thanks Paul for bringing a system we can trust (sorry Paul, maybe should not say things like that as i may well be your long lost relative!!)IDIOTS!

And as for msg 9, what the hell do i want to ask a question for when i have the system installed and happy??DER!

Everyone slags off the illegal systems here, now someone does it the legal way they still cant win!

bamboo,

It was me who thought that your post looked like a 'self - advertisement' - we do see a lot of them on here!

I fully accept that your post was not 'self - advertisement', and was in fact a genuine post from a customer, satisfied with the service provided by 'satellitecyprus.com'

I do not (and DID not) doubt that the service itself was as advertised - Nilesat is a reliable satellite which gives a good strong signal in Cyprus, with Free-to-air & 'Pay' programmes, as I mentioned (although I would still, personally go for a 1 metre dish).

Anyway, I apologise for casting doubt on the integrity of your post.

I hope that it doesn't put you off posting again.
