Last week a beautiful German Shepherd was dumped in our village. He's about two years old and the most friendly, loving animal. He appears to have been trained - knows sit, stay and lie down, walks well on a lead and happily jumps into the back seat of the car. My son, who is visiting from Canada at the moment, has fallen in love with him and wants to take him home, but Turkish Airlines, who have a direct flight from Istanbul to Toronto, have just set a ruling that they'll not take big dogs. We've been feeding him as he's really skinny but are unable to take him ourselves as we have no garden and already have a small dog. He probably only has about another week before someone calls the police to "take him away" so if there's anyone out there who would give this beautiful animal a home, please let me know. I can send pictures or you can come and see him for yourself in Karaman village.

tiadxb, are you sure about this new ruling with Turkish Airlines? I have checked their website and do not see anything that indicates such. I am not challenging you, but am concerned for myself. I always use Turkish to travel with my dogs and am concerned about future travels. I know calling them without a reservation will be a nightmare. Has your son tried to call? This news may decide for us whether or not we get another dog for the family. Good luck.

This sounds like it could be the street Alsation that was returned to our area by KAR after it was neutered. It disappeared a few weeks ago, we thought maybe someone had removed it from the area because it was a problem according to some folk. We hadn't already have 3 dogs and we would have taken it in but it didn't get on with 2 of ours at all. It was a beautiful dog. Hope it gets a happy ending. Keep us posted, can you put a picture on the forum?

mollycorbin - this is what we were told by KAR. I don't know it's all flights or just the long haul flights (we were looking at Istanbul to Toronto). She did say, though, that they were reluctant to take large animals!!! We've tried calling Turkish Airlines but have had no luck in getting any kind of response so far. I would put a picture up but don't know how!!!!!!! I can email you one if you like?
