Hi This is my first time on this site, my wife and I would love to relocate to

Northern Cyprus, we have been many times and love it, we would like to know more about the high interst rates we could get investing in the Northern Cyprus banking system, do we need to own or rent a property before we can open an account , I have been looking at some of the letters posted I have tried to e-mail the HSBC in Cyprus to no avail, I would be greatful for any info

on this subject ( banking and relocating )

Hi GAZZA53,

Welcome to the forum, when I opened an account at HSBC they did require my purchase contract and passport. I would advise anyone who wishes to come and live here in the TRNC to come for a year and rent. Take your time and get to know the different areas before considering buying. The rentals here are plentiful and are cheaper than at home, I personally wouldn't sell up in the UK but would rent my property out until I was sure the TRNC was for me. With a name like GAZZA are you from the northeast?

Gazza53. Yes you can open an account in some banks if you are renting / buying or not. I asked this question for someone else in Credit West yesterday and they confirmed that you don't have to be living in TRNC or own/rent a property.
