This sounds interesting...can you please give some details as to what this transmitter does? Is it a sort of electric fencing for example?

the dogs wear special collars and when they approach the selected parameters they emit a warning buzz and should the dogs overstep these parameters they are given an electronic "shock", which theoretically teaches the dogs to stay within their set limits.

They do work but now are classed as illegal by the RSPCA in the UK, there is a websit called Petsafe ( I think) which gives all the details
