At Ileli market we were overcharged. We only bought 6 items, however there were 9 items on the bill. Cashier’s mistake could cost us 24 ytl! Ileli staff is always polite and helpful towards us but these kind of mistakes deteriorates trust. Management must take action

Dorrie, did you do anything about it or do you think that posting deflammatory comments about the supermarket on an open forum for what could be a simple mistake or even a scanner error is the way to go.

What do you believe the management should do, unpack every customers shiopping to double check that the charges are correct.

I know I sound obnoxious but that is my intent, did you see the member of staff stick the 24 TL in thier pocket or could it just have been a simple mistake.

If you are really that concerned then you should do what my mother used to do when shopping, carry a calculator and add up the prices as you go, then when you reach the till you will know if they have made an error. She of course did it because she could only afford so much and didn't want the embarassment of having to return items but the principle remains the same.

And if you say that you don't want to look at all the prices as you go then you obviously can afford not to care and won't miss 24TL

I think it was just an error made by a careless cashier. My husband warned the cashier. Roger, small errors may get bigger and bigger unless people show enough attention to their jobs. What if we had bought 30 items? By the way, thanks for your warning Roger, I will not use any private business names in my critiques anymore

For what it's worth, I think you did the right thing here. Ileli's staff have always been very much liked and respected since they took over the shop and lots of us here have passed this on to others. I use them all the time when I am there and so do many others. However, there was a post on here a little while ago saying pretty much what you've said in respect of being overcharged. I feel sure it was a genuine mistake, but a business must uphold good and honest service in order to survive.

Fair enough posting here if you have already brought it to the attention of the management however if you have not then that is a different story. My Ileli story is that one day last week my shopping bill came to 188TL. I was charged 180TL (having already been given a free carton of red wine) and then discovered that none of our bank cards would work (assume a problem with phone lines). No problem said the lady there, come in tomorrow and pay.

Please do go and speak to the management as I am sure they will sort it out for you.

Hi to all - yes, I totally agree. I'm just a little concerned that their great reputation may be affected by people who read this. I have never had any problems with Ileli - we go there all the time. The girls are friendly and helpful, they go out of their way to help and - wait for it - they SMILE.

There are a good many supermarkets who would do well to follow their example.

As Lilli rightly says - speak to the boss if this happens in the future.

Jean,

I am a little confused, you said that you believed the original poster did the right thing by posting the thread and then later that you are concerned the reputation might be affected by people reading this.

Maybe it is me but that seems to be the complete opposite of each other.

Paul, message 8. Yes, I can see my 2 posts are a little confusing. The reason I agreed with the fact that Dorrie had posted on here about being overcharged was purely for the fact that someone else had posted quite recently that they were overcharged, too. However, I also said I thought it was a genuine mistake. As I said, I shop in Ileli all the time when we are there - as can be seen by my later post. You will also note that I repeated the fac that I felt it was a genuine error. Do you not think that you went a little 'over the top' with your post on this thread?

PS Have you seen the message I left for you on the "Why do I see so much (or something similar))............................" thread?

Jean, the old happy go lucky Paul is still here, just hiding away for some things, I had missed that post so thanks for bringing it up.

I feel like trying to make a difference before I finally give up on the forum (I get told by more people about how annoying some people can be on the forum because of the rude comments so I try to fight back against the bullies, probably makes me look a bit like a bully but I am just trying to show that it works both ways) and that is hard to do without being serious. I still have some fun now and again but it depends on the thread to be honest and when I put up my comment about I find all the posts about lost pets to be disturbing I just got abuse from several pet lovers because they didn't like it, typical example of the we want things our way brigade.

Anyway, your posts make more sense now so thanks for explaining them.

As for being over the top, depends how you look at it. 3rd ever post and knocking the management for a genuine error in public

Paul, Proger1 lighten up man, chill out, from what I read of your posts everything seems to get to you, the we want things our way brigade has you put it, only wants to give their opinion, if you don't like it Paul just ignore it, after all it's their opinion.

By the way I am interested in more things than cats in wheelie bins.

jamestalbot, I have just deleted a long comment before I sent it in reply to your words above but I realised it is a waste of time, I will be who I am, live with it or don't read my posts, easy.

Doesn't that sound familiar.
