I am aware that you are allowed 20kg, is this in the one bag only as well? I am travelling one way to live over in Cyprus. As I am packing for myself and child I have 4 bags. I thought from a health and safety aspect it would be better to spread my weight out but have heard different i.e that if I had 4 bags totalling 40kg 10 in each I would be charged excess for the 3 bags - 30kg?

I thought they would add up my weight and anything over 20 would be charged?

Also do laptops have to be packed in hand luggage or can you have tham separately?

Hi snydalecyps, depends who you are flying with if you are on a charter flight or schedule ( 1. charter 1 bag but you can book extra bags. 2. schedule you can take extra bags no problem. 3. you can carry 2 pieces of hand luggage ie 1 handbag 1 laptop. ) check with your airline.

It also depends on if the flight is fully booked and if you are nice to the check-in staff. I used to work for KLM out of City Airport - always remember particularly in this day and age with the rise of fuel cost- that the more weight goes on the aircraft the more fuel will be used - more fuel more money. Have a good journey.
