Greylag. Excellent link.

For me, this statement says it all:

As long as money is transferred to northern Cyprus, unless the Cypriot system hits the bottom, Turkish Cypriots will not try to come up with formulas for salvation. Politicians in office representing the state today will set obstacles before the entire finance discipline and reform programs Turkey imposes.

Definitely food for thought, but does anyone think that the powers that be in TRNC will take a blind bit of notice ?

One statement did make me chuckle though....describing the RoC as "well-organized, institutionalized, sober and prosperous. "......biased at all ?

Very well written article.

In effect, the author is saying that the only way that the political system is going to wake up is if it experiences a cataclysmic shock. A bit like the smoker being told by a doctor 'your lungs are in perilous condition and I am certain you only have 6 months to live. You had better prepare your family and create a will '

But of course, we know that many smokers are too addicted to give up, so unfortunately their insatiable addiction causes their own early demise. I am not sure if the the patient (the TRNC) will take the doctors advice and change it's lifestyle.

ilovecyprus......a good analogy.

As I've said before, as perverse as it sounds, only the complete collapse of the TRNC property market and construction industry will facilitate the much needed legal reforms.

Cronos, but it will not collapse for the TC will it, as they will keep selling existing housing stock regardless of who has paid for it already and currently lives in it !

Another good point deputydawg....and not as ridiculous as it sounds.

The TRNC have really played a blinder haven't they?

Will they not be 'playing with fire' if this 'rip-off' happens to the Russians?

The [allegedly] offending bank should procure copies of that classical Russian book: 'Russian Revenge' by Irova Bollokoff...... and pay heed to the title before deciding to proceed with their 'Kulaksiz 5' antics ! ! !

The publishers, Whodidyounickaknackeroff, give a free bottle of Vodka, a picture of the Russian strip artist "Dropnick" and a primed Molotov Cocktail, for all "on line" orders,

Lets be fair

North Cyprus has always been "bailed out" by Turkey. Much of the problems of northern Cyprus come from within and are not due to external issues which politicians would have us believe.

Many of the problems economically in North Cyprus come from within however as is evident island wide the politicians to cover up their own failures by blaming everyone else.

The phrase "piss the bed and blame the blanket" springs to mind.

My Turkish Cypriot friends, who are hard workers, were not impressed. They think Munir is stirring up trouble. I don't know. It makes sense to me.

My Turkish Cypriot friends don't, either, Anthony-Smith - but unfortunately they're out numbered by their Turkish 'brothers'.
