Have bought apartment on Olive grove, Lapta. Completion is iminent. Anyone else on this forum bought there?

I fly out there on the 3rd of September and would welcome any suggestions for good, reasonably priced furniture outlets. Any advise would be much appreciated as only been over once for a few days before on inspection trip.

Cheers.

Does anyone have a map of Lapta? I have one of Northern Cyprus but it is not very detailed. I would love to know where some of the developments mentioned on the forum are in relation to the village. We have brought a villa in Lapta (one of 4 in a grove, just completed) but although we have visited the site many times, I still don't have a sense of how big the Lapta area is. Google Earth is not much help either.

Msg 8 try Dutch Crusader for maps of the north, although he uses Greek place names apparently.

Thanks, have already tried that map and found it to be no better than the one I brought in Smiths at Stansted Airport. I thought it would come in the post as a hard copy but only seems to be a download and my printer couldn't cope.

samsansom, you need licence in NC to import furniture, any attempted to be brought across the border may be confiscated, we had our sun beds impounded and had to pay some duty, nothing serious but be aware. Customs may also confiscate 'flat pack' furniture, so what I do is remove any Ikea labels/packaging etc first.

I believe the tax on furniture is 30% plus 100% of the purchase price, but may be wrong as we got away with 30% on the sun beds after leaving the first time and returning another day.

If you cross with a van it is guaranteed to be searched.

hello was we supossed to have the white goods include in the price?

For all our white goods and furniture we used frank and joan and were very well priced much cheaper than other quotes we got out there. As for the maintenance does any body no how much other sites are, and how does everyone on olive grove feel about the walls around each apartment being repalced by a hedge now.

Maintenance costs not an issue anymore as ive decided not to complete the purchase of the apartment. Was very disapointed with the size and build quality when i visited in September. I also understood the white goods were included in the price. What with this and the extra costs added on at Santa Fe's whim i think the apartment is very over priced compared to others i looked around during my visit.

The Santa-Fe bandwagon rolls on. Both myself and my investing partner have been over several times this year the location is good the apartment finishes are crap we employed a snagger stewart hillard top man took no prisioners. We have a snagging list as long as our arm as for the proposed maintenance fees 6 months at £400 overseen by the "Home Doctor" who just happens to be santa-fe's maintenance manager, they must think all brits are stupid with stacks of money to burn. Returned from cyprus last week electric due in 2 weeks the pool filled with water in the spring. Good Luck to all fellow buyers.

Iliveinhope,

Going out on the 14/3/09 for 9 days we have been informed that the papers have gone through Kibtek and all services will be connected by the time we go. We have furniture waiting to go in that was bought and paid for 10 months ago. The problem is until everyone pays there final installments and maintenance fees ,which are excessive then work grinds to a holt. Any info you need or update then happy to share it with you e-mail me off board..............
