everyone agrees lilli that poor civilians may get caught up in a future conflict

however this "palestinian" blog spot may have good reasons to big up the chances

firstly it may be that iran's agent hisbollla is now itself planning lebanon war III,

supposedly having delivery of new and bigger rockets designed to hit civilians

secondly if true, the "supplies" may simply be precautionary to cover all eventualities

thirdly, if the israeli airforce gives iran a healthy slap it should really surprise no-one:

unlike some naiive americans, the israelis can be under no illusion they would hurt

the ayatollahs' score of secret atomic factories which are mostly far underground

...but ahmenadinajad's backers would appreciate what would happen

if they carried out his threat to attack israel with a-bombs, something you'd not condone

and "what if"?

vast damage to iran's infrastructure, a smallish number of casualties, sunni arab joy

and catawauling from eurolefties

Maybe they think the price point is advantageous.... and it's nothing more sinister than that.

Go, Israel,

IRAN will kick off the next world war by having the capability to manufacture nuclear devises and selling them to some tin pot dictator to use, or even using them themselves, then draw the rest of the world in to the same mess.

IRAN needs to either stop making this stuff or be stopped, they say it is for domestic use, "my A**E"

My personal thoughts!

I wonder do the Israelis have nuclear weapons?

I know that Israel along with North Korea have refused to sign the Nuclear non-proliferation treaty (Iran has signed) and I wonder why not.

I know that Mordechai Vanunu a former Israeli Nuclear technician produced solid evidence that the Israelis did have nuclear weapons (as far back as 1986). Vanunu was however immediately kidnapped by the Israelis in Italy and jailed for 18 years so we are still left 'wondering' .

If this is true, then all the so called Military Genuisis have dreampt it possible.

But its obvious that Syria, Egypt and Jordan have done a deal with the US as can see Israel bombing Iran, attacking Hamas in Gaza as a blockade measure but main thrust coming into southern Lebanon after Hezbollah, this as a repeat of 6 day war of 1967, however will last a lot longer.

Gaza and bombing of Iran will be easy as when the Iranians see the destruction caused they will be not so full of war!

However invading Lebanon might not be so difficult as people seem as there is only a small area to attack through and I believe that the Israelis would be upto Beirut within a few days again.

So all this fuel is for one purpose- WAR !!

Whose supplying it , yes those wonderful peacemakers the US, coincidentally just as they are holding peace talks next month- obviously to strengthen Israels hand !!

Watch this tragic space !!

message 7:

the only tragedy in your somewhat garbled message,

is making things seem far more complex than they are

if iran gets a warning pasting it will hardly surprise anyone

and cheer very many sunnis in the arab world

not that I am either "for" nor "against" such an eventuality

any more than I am for or against what some call a solution

for cyprus, whatever that rather vague label actually means

I'd worry more about North Korea, they have nuclear bombs and China's support

I'd worry more about the US - they have nuclear bombs and don't feel they need anyone's support.

I feel that Israel has no choice but to go in. It can't afford to allow Iran to develop a destructive weapon, because, there is every possibility that it would use it on Israel. The way that the Iranian government treats it's opponent, the way it deals with dissenters and the way it punishes those that transgress it's archaic rules, shows that it is not a progressive government, but one that is regressive. It may not be unreasonable to compare it with a society from the middle ages.

I do not worry about the US using it's nuclear weapons. Yes, the US is on a mission to spread it's version of democracy and laissez faire capitalism, and it can be aggressive in it's implementation, but it has no intention of using it's nuclear arsenal.

Perhaps, things could change if Palin gets in.

The US faced the prospect of losing allot of its soldiers in invading Japan.

Japan was not going to surrender, so, many more people probably would have died, than those who died from the atom bombs, as bad as it was.

After the war, America sent over it’s very best minds to ensure that Japan could develop a strong economy and not start another war. It can be argued that America did a better job with Japan than it’s own country. America laid the roots of ‘Kaizen’ which has made Japan an industrial powerhouse and a highly stable country. America did a fine job here

Americas nuclear arsenal will ensure no-one butts-in when it starts to wipe the floor with Iran. Remember - Iranians may be moslems but they aren't Arabs and they have few alies in the region.

I wonder what would have happened if the US and Britain had held it's nerve in the Korean war. If the US had dug in, North Korea now united with the South would be an economic powerhouse not a pariah state.

I don't know much about this war, perhaps, it was too dangerous to risk a head on collision with China.

N.Korea has Mao Tse Tung to thank for the shit order it now finds itself in.

Since Mao snuffed it, China has seen the light.

N. Korea is still in the dark.

the rumour is that China does not want North Korea to unite with the South. Both countries united, would be quite a serious threat to China's economic dominance of the region.

IloveCyprus,

Discussing the US's approach to foreign policy is not so much of a digression from the topic of this thread - Powerful US-based Jewish lobby groups will ensure that the approaches of both countries in the middle east are intrinsically linked.

And with regard to your "Japan was not going to surrender" comment in message 16 - Don't you feel the US could have waited a little more than three days, before they dropped the second on Nagasaki? - Japan was still trying to comprehend what had hit them. Hopefully, Israel doesn't behave in the same way ...
