I watched raft race yesterday and was so impressed with the 4 kids that came 3rd, Their ages of 8, 10, 12 & 16 they swam the whole course pushing 2 pallets, they were so pleased to win a little bit of money. I found out today that they were disqualified following a complaint on a technicality of some very basic rules. They are totally gutted who in their right mind would take away their sense of achievement. If the rules as was announced were followed you could have disqualified most of rafts, I went there for a fun day and was disappointed by small minded persons.

Yes, a very bad show. Feel sorry for the kids. The adult team who came third by default must have been desperate for the MONEY.

I agree with Kary44 those 4 youngsters slogged there guts out, they were disqualified for not all being on the raft at the end, but anyone could see that they looked so worn out that they had a job to get back on and stay on. And when it comes to rules the Karsiyaka team broke 2 out of their 4 paddles on the first lap and were handed 2 from the beach surely thats an infringment of the rules, I think that could have been classed as outside help. If you biuld a raft and it has problems then thats tough, you get it round the course the best way you can, like the youngsters did.

Most of the other teams did not go round one of the markers, some of them including the winning team used swim fins those youngsters used sheer guts and determination.

I as an adult would have been happy to have gone round once on that course. I hope the complainers are satisfied upsetting 4 youngsters who done the course with sheer guts and determination and were left gutted.

As compare of the raft race I feel I must add that I also feel very gutted for the kids of the Grand Slam team. I however had complaints from people saying that at the start I had said that all 4 team members had to be on the raft on completion of the course. These complaints were taken to the judge and that was when the decision was made.



Please dont shoot the compare I was only doing what was asked of me. I feel sorry for the kids as they did work SO hard. My hat goes off to them.

If you want to go into rules, after the false start, the kids did not even get back to the beach before you restarted the race they were already at a disadvantage, you also announced that all 4 members should be on raft at start and were allowed to be pushed out, so explain why karsiyaka cruisers male crew pushed their raft out until they were chest deep then boarded their raft, the only ones to do this. Them kids were robbed and the people behind this should be ashamed

Reply to message 4 no one is blaming you Glen but as Kary44 says at the start down on the beach there was total confusion, I was down on the beach at the time just standing there and I found it a job to hear what was being said let alone those on the rafts. Where were the judges watching from because as I can see there was not a good veiw from up the top at beach lagoon a better veiw would have been from jessics, then they could have seen what actually happened. Total confusion!.

We where doing a barbercue and pool party at Mo.s just aone off for charity, unfortunatley we had a poor turn out.
