Could you recomend a 5* Hotel on the beach near Kyrenia except Hotel Cratos, Drinks far to expensive.

My family are arriving from all around the world for a holiday next July and could do with some

advise as to where they could stay. We have just stayed at the Acapulco for a week a little

Jaded but not bad. Have also stayed at the Mercure that I could say was OK, But none have given me

that wow .... great hotel feeling. I really want to impress them as none have been to Northern Cyprus

and are coming on my recomendation.

The Jasmine, not really a beach but on the sea front, and they have excellent rooms. Regarding drinks prices any of the 5* hotels will be expensive!

Vouni Palace Hotel---karakum, very nice have stayed there as have friends and relatives.

Only one proviso---they were finishing a new marina/harbour at the hotel in july when i was out last at my place, would imagine they have finished now but still worth checking out.

The Ada Hotel is right on the beach with a terrific outlook but if you are Ozankoy way is a bit far as it is in Alsancak. They are very obliging and will reduce prices (or did for my son's wedding) if there is a reasonable sized party - just need to barter. Good luck!

The Jasmine is set back off the main road between toen and going out towards Lapta way. Its within walking distance of town where there are many cheaper bars. yes you can swim in the sea, they have a man made patio area. Nice swimming pool and a gym!

I would also suggest the Merit for what you are looking for. Have a look at http://www.tripadvisor.com for reviews of the hotels in Girne.

I was with friends of ours when they stayed at the Vuni Palace. We had reccied it for them as she is disabled. We thought it would be great for her.

They hated it and the defining moment for them was coming down to breakfast one morning and finding a dead kitten under the table. The staff knew it was dying but left it there and moved it grudgingly. They found the staff fairly unhelpful and the cleanliness of the room was also an issue. Also the air con was off in public areas until the Thursday, when coachloads of Turks arrived for a casino weekend. It went off again in public areas when they had left.

It is difficult to assess an hotel for someone else, for what it's worth Merit sounds good, Cratos around the pool and inside is lovely and The Malpas has a courtesy bus down to their beach club at Cornaro. We know several people who have stayed there and loved it, including our friends above from Vuni. Same old gripe, drinks are expensive But these places have great facilities.
