The answer is no... Asil Nadir was not a convicted criminal, he wasn't even on bail when he returned to the country of his birth fearing that he was being stitched up in and by the City. There is no valid extradition warrant. I also note with amusement the suggestion on some threads that NHS treatment is his reason for returning to the UK now as if a man with his finances could not get private treatment anywhere in the world should he want it. NHS? Well he might get on a waiting list to see a consultant....

Groucho There was never an extradition warrant because there is no extradition treaty between the UK and TRNC. If there had been I think that a certain G Robb would have departed these shores much earlier than he actually did. If Mr Nadir had gone to another country where there is an extradition treaty then you might have seen it acted upon. Only time will tell what the future holds for Mr Nadir, lets hope that the wheels of justice turn quickly and a just conclusion is found to the whole affair (whatever that conclusion may be). Paul

I would think that someone who could afford to rent a house for £20,000 per month whilst in the UK for his court case would be able to adequately insure himself and family and village privately...

interestingly, the bankruptcy case against him is being revived and not able to leave the UK for a few years makes it difficult to avoid it.

Whilst I appreciate that it is only a Wikipedia article, the attached gives some background to the whole Polly Peck saga. It makes interesting reading. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polly_Peck. Paul

Maybe it is that very attractive wife of his that is keeping him young. In the words of Mrs Merton......"and what was it that attracted you to multi millionaire Asil Nadir ?". Just kidding, I am sure that she loves him for all the right reasons Paul

The point I was making is that the paper article contain questions based on a false premise, namely that he feared extradition. I don't think anything could be further from the truth and I wonder at the editor's gullibility in allowing the article to be published in its present form... it's basically a load of non-information dressed up in total tosh. The idea that Asil Nadir could be likened to the drug runner Brian Wright is without merit. It's an attempt to blacken the name of the TRNC by attaching Spain's erstwhile Costa Del Crime to Northern Cyprus. Yes there are criminals, some of them imported but the comparison is as fatuous as it is daft...

Asil Nadir, is a Cypriot and as such would never have been sent back to Britain.
