Sky news reports that he will face a bail hearing at The Old Bailey. He will be told what if any charges he will have to face. More worrying for him is that he will also face bankrupcy. Will his North Cyprus assets be protected? Will justice be served? wyn

Wyn Because there is no extradition agreement between the UK and TRNC, then I suspect that any potential recovery of assets (should that be deemed necessary) would have to be in agreement with the TRNC government. As a strong supporter of the UDP party, I would guess that his assets will be safe for the timebeing Paul

Paul, you said "...any potential recovery of assets...would have to be in agreement with the TRNC government..." As the Uk Government doesn't even RECOGNISE the TRNC Government, I think that's a non-starter! - regardless of which team you support

According to tonight's 6.00 news (BBC), Mr Nadir will not face trial until October 2011, although his lawyers are trying to have it thrown out all together.

I thought I would just point out that in the letters section of the Daily Mail this Thursday there was quite a long letter from a gentleman in Bethnal Green who had nothing but good things to say about Asil Nadir. I am not going to reproduce the whole letter as it was quite long but the last paragraph said "He did nothing crooked: you can't blame one man for the collapse of a large organisation". Interesting.

Have to wonder just what has driven him to take the risk of a prison sentence. His finances may not be as good as people surmise and he risks his creditors coming after him big time. 12 months before his criminal trial should give them ample opportunity to go after any money he has. He is certainly putting up a great front. Attack is the best form of defence they say.

Fantastic that he has so much faith in the British legal system like we have with the trnc legal system I wonder if he gets stuffed like us expats who have bought properties . Good luck Mr Asil Nadir! But if like us don't hold your breath.

Yorguslu, The TRNC assets were on Polly Pecks balance sheet, They were certified by their TRNC Auditors. Please check your facts, and then please tell me where they dissappeared to. We called the island Cyprus. It was Turkey and TCs who chose to designate the north TRNC. What happenned to Polly Peck PLC north cyprus/ TRNC assets.? wyn

cronus Yes! Musim/ Yorgoslu. I respect the way that you guys stand up for The TRNC, though I dont understand why you choose to reside in London, when it suits you.. You are both in denial over the reality of property purchase in The TRNC. We are bound by contracts whilst there is money still outstanding on it. As soon as it is paid, the contract is not worth the paper it is written on. And that came from my advocate and Marion Stokes. Pay the stamp duty and you are protected from ANY FURTHER ENCUMBERANCE. Oh that does not includre "memorandums". They are issued by the courts. I asked my TRNC advocate if anything else could go wrong. No he said as he took another £13.5K from me.. Two weeks later he said well we didnt realise memorandums would outrank registration. Fine I said, You have left us in a right pickle. I will sue. No point he says as we do not owe you a duty of care, and in any event we do not carry PI insurance. Now Yorgoslu,

I know when I have been hoodwinked and I know who by! I do not wish to live in a lawless society so please give me my kochan so I can sell, or give me my money back, Snigger you may, but who is going to support your corrupt society, when the Brits have been bled dry? A word of advise. Dont rely on the Russians. They have a worse track record than you lot, and your tourism will suffer. TURKEY. Well of course. They are already well p----sed off with the TRNC, and those guys really do know how to crack the whip. Remember 74? the GCs do. What we are talking about is a breach of good faith. Is that how you wish to be seen, in international circles. Happy Ramadan to you and yours. wynyardman
