It seems to me that deliberately attempting to pervert the morals of these cricketers is just about as low as a 'newspaper' can go.

When you approach somebody in an effort to get them to incriminate themselves it's not the same as them making the first move or proof that they had already done similar things before....

I know they've been caught making a serious mistake, don't get me wrong, but I just don't hold with this kind of journalism. This rag of a paper has fabricating news out of this kind of sting for a while.

Groucho, presumably that is why there are so many debates regarding the laws surrounding entrapment. I do believe however that those involved in high level sports are constantly reminded that they are susceptible to these approaches and if they immediately notify the authorities of any such situation they will be fully supported. Makes me wonder though what might of happened to the media persons had they taken such action and reported the approach if it existed ?

I'm told this by a newspaper man:-

"They wouldn't have mounted the operation unless they had good evidence that the suspects were corrupt and had done this before. "

They ( the news papers ) have their facts before they carry out the ' sting ', and why not ?

Honest people have placed bets, using their knowledge of the game to try and predict the outcome but when players rig the game for big money then the honest people lose.

I for one think that the papers do a good job when they expose these people.

If the newspaper approached an athlete under-cover and encouraged him to take performance enhancing drugs, and then pointed the finger at them as a drug taking cheat, what is the moral difference?

Leading someone to do something wrong they wouldn't otherwise have been inclined to do is just not moral.

Of course if they are already inclined to do so then fair dos. But I've yet to see the evidence that these guys had already done match fixing for financial gain.

Just bought a copy of International Cricket 2010 for my Xbox, but the disc is broken.

I'm looking for a Paki now, I've heard they're good at fixing cricket games.
