I recently rescued 2 beautiful dogs whilst in Esentepe for 3 weeks. I could not bring them back to the UK so the kindest thing to do was to pay for them to go in kennels. They are now in K9 Kaplica with a loving English couple and now they are settled and happy. I had a text from the Kennels owner today, distraught (again) because Brits, once again, have paid for their dogs to board for a couple of weeks and now they are not coming back for them but have decided to stay in the UK. They must have known they were not going to return. My poor friends are once again heartbroken because they don't have enough money to support these dogs, they are NOT a charity and through her tears she tells me that she now has 2 more dogs on death row. A week before we took our dogs there they had to have 5 dogs put to sleep because once again Brits had not returned for their "beloved" pets. It's disgusting. Remember a dog is for life, be responsible and STOP abandoning your pets!!

Janzy that is so awful, your poor friends. How can they do it knowing full well they wont be back and let the deed fall to someone else. I know have my 27th dumped dog, mainly expats returning. Listen you heartless people whatever your reasons you are causing not only your loyal pet distress, but the. ones you pay for a couple of weeks whilst you go. Have you no soul, do you not consider how these people feel. You may relax back into your life your dog wont and all for the love he she gave you. I see their distress and I wouldnt want to make the decision to kill them, but then you already made that choice, if you leave them to fend for themselves as sure as hell death will become them usually a broken heart, no food or water, road kill , so think on

Janzy, Lilly , I feel exactly like you both do! thank goodness I can't see the suffering and pain, I never want to see it again! it makes me physically sick! and to think the instigators of these animal sufferings, are from the UK, They should never be allowed to own any poor victim again! and your right Lilly they have no soul!

whilst I too am filled with revolt at abandoned pets here, I understand that it can be really hard if you NEED to return to UK and do not have the cash to get your pets back. The kindest option maybe to have them PTS but we all know that cannot hasppen here. So what do you do. Well you can ring KAR the long suffering welfare place or you can turn them out. OK, so nothing is left so you turn them out and leaVE SOME OF THE REST OF US TO BREAK OUR HEARTSEEING THEM BUT BEING UNABLE TO HLP THEMK

If the kennels took proper details from those people who are leaving their dogs, then surely they could be traced and tracked down in the UK? If the owners have property here then they should go to the courts for the unpaid bills. When will people learn a dog is for life?

So sorry to hear about Chelsea Spider. My hubby and our Charlie used to see Vic and the dogs quite often down by the sea. You gave her the very best for her last couple of years and she could not have asked for more.

I agree Joan having met chelsea several times and to see the care she received, maria and vic would usually call into see me on the vet trips, i am sad but know the best was done for her. Thats what makes me so very angry when people know they have no intention of coming back and two weeks kennel money eases their guilt x

| These Brits know very well once they have said goodbye to their pets they will not be coming back for them, paying for their keep and then a phone call to say they are not coming back is despicable behaviour......What do they say the the kennel owners take them to KAR...Well doing this sort of thing and also just up and going leaving them on the streets has to stop....for crying out loud...they need to be tied up to a tree for a month people like this ! | hiya roelo i know what you say but id doesnt make it any easier when you know the brits homed, loved, trained these creatures so they do not have a street life , then they return them to just that. I love dobermanns, i love their nature. Me I have my beautiful staffi, my baby a boxer and two pointers here, at the restaurant whom i have totally fallen in love with Tess, havent got a clue what she is, only beautiful. 3 weeks I have had her a scared little soul then who sought comfort on the settee, god if you could see her now. We had to carry her out to do her buisness now she tells me exactly what she wants. My customers are gob smacked at the difference in her.Only wish I could find her a home. She needs to be with children as all the kids who come to me love her as she does them.. I bet your babies do well in the shows xxxxxx |

Our efes is growing big now. Too big for my mum to handle, I can just about do it. Took him to pertev on friday for one of his injections. Was closed for ramadan. (Could have mentioned when he put date in Efes's passport) Lilli, thanks for the directions, I will take him down tomorrow to get him registered. Hope he isn't too scared of the other dogs and people. I'll have to get him a nice treat and maybe give him a roast beef dinner for his supper ;-) He's becoming very loyal and protective (hence the post about no trespassing), he cries if I go out without him. This week he's been trying to shag my leg every time I got back from somewhere. I would love to take him everywhere but if it's something that may take a bit of time I would prefer him not to be in the car alone baking away.

hiya love if you have his book from pertev you wont have to take him, and i wouldnt as its mental there. They dogs fight eachother, they are in the heat. Its not nice you wait your turn. You will get a tablet which he has already had. Has to be done to be legal only lapta and Catalkoy. He will now be protective, thats their nature but show him who is the boss.My Mojo my baby if Im away too long he will pee , to show me im wrong. a spell in the sin bin sorts him. Mike kep the treats for when he masters something special you are training him to do. My little scared lady at the restaurant is now such a star. We can now play catch, she should be an olymic jumper that one. you will be amazed in the difference from when you saw her. what a personality she has. The fun she can have with an empty water bottle. She has amazed me. From next week we are back to normal so bring efes down xxx

doing things one by one spider, don't want to shock the poor thing. Once he's had his injections he'll have the snip. (Probably won't talk to me for a week though ;) He does talk to me now, sounds like that cat off the 1970's tv safety advert sort of ;-) (Just remembered the name of it, Charlie says). He was a stray, and had Parvo when he first turned up. So just step by step. Mike xx

thanks spider, lilli I will do. Got to take him on monday to pertev for his next injection. He likes it in the car now, stopped being sick etc, gets in and out by himself but he's a bit funny about getting out at the vets now, probably because they always stick things in him ;-) Whether it's an injection or a finger or thermometer up the bum. hehehe. Poor thing. Don't think anyone's keen on any of that.

Just an update on the situation with the dogs left at the kennels. A friend of the woman who left her dogs will be collecting the poor little mites and they will taken away and put to sleep. I am heartbroken for my friend who has to deal with this sort of thing on a regular basis. She is at her wits end and doesn't know which way to turn. Someone commented on here that owners should leave a UK address when they leave their dogs. When I adopted our dogs I gave all my details, there is proper paperwork that has to be completed, so I don't know what the answer is. I think they should be made to show their airline tickets are return and not just one way. It's very difficult to police this sort of thing though. I am now in the process of rescuing another dog here that was dumped on a local park, beaten and traumatised. It's happening everywhere. What can you do? We can't save them all....how I wish we could.

I don't see any excuse in this world why when you own a dog, you would leave it behind here when you leave.? You purchase that ticket for yourself wife and family when leaving so why not the dog? Quarentine in the UK doesn't make you pay for the whole stay all up front, they offer monthly terms. So no excuse other than if you leave you dog behind you are scum. Maybe if these people had paid a large amount of money for these dogs then it would have been different.? Easy come easy go comes to mind. Shame on them. I still do say that if the kennels took proper records it would help to stop this happening.

They do take proper records. Although there is nothing to say that the address that I gave was correct. I could have made one up. I know that some people are facing problems getting EU Passports for their animals and that they are taking up to nine months to come through. In those circumstances I know it's difficult. However there is still no excuse whatsoever for telling bare faced lies to these poor people by saying that they will be back in a fortnight for their dogs and leaving them to deal with the fallout. SHAME ON YOU!!

We rescued 2 dogs 7yrs ago when we lived in the TRNC.We left the TRNC last year and now live in England. There was no question that our dogs weren't and leave their pets behind coming back with us and as it happened we have 1 with us here now and the other 1 was re homed with a lovely couple in Esentepe.Blade is right you don't have to pay up -front, all at once or even a large deposit, most will accept monthly payments. If people were to start a savings account when they took the dogs on they would soon have the money for the Quarantine fees. IMO those that knowingly leave their animals behind to fend for themselves or try to smuggle them back into the UK through France just to save a few bob are the lowest of the low. On a happier ending we entered our dog into a dog show, and she won the Best Rescued section and Saddest Eyes section how good is that. The judges loved her and couldn't believe that British people could be so callous and just leave their pets behind.

these people sicken me to the core, what ever their reasons they have no right to place the issue on someone else,I couldn't have them put to sleep. Why didn't they do the deed as they already sentenced them. I hope you low life read this and I hope your miserable life will be bearable knowing what you have done.I hope open hope you never ever have another pet to give you unconditional love. What you did to the poor people for the price of two weks board and lodging satisfy your sick minds. words fail me
