We did not go to the opening at 12.00 but did go much later at 15.00 to have lunch. The hotel is very impressive inside [more than can be said for the exterior of the building]. The drinks were not over priced considering the surroundings. The food was very good and reasonably priced and we would go back there.

However, the service was very slow and although there were plenty of staff around none of them seemed to have experience so we suspect there are going to be quite a few teething problems.

We went at 11.30, easy parking, a nice wander round, first in the bar, first for the canapes, red wine was lovely, service good, staff attentive.... Well done Cratos & hotel looks good too.

We popped in and it was so busy, but we went and looked at the pool area and bay plus the restaurant which was pretty busy and checked out the food, which looked lovely.

I wanted diet coke at the bar and had to pay for it but the wine and beer was free!

The restaurant costs 35TL for a buffet lunch and 50TL for an evening meal (which is also a buffet) plus drinks.

Personally, I am not a fan of buffets especially for the evenings, I cook at home most the week and love to be waited on when I go out in the evening, that is my treat and not to go traipsing around deciding what to eat.

I don't think we will be going but will check out the A la Carte menu when it comes out, but may be a little expensive but for special occassions, who knows.

cyprus joker your comments are indicative of some of the small minded bigots on this forum you assume if people comment on prices they can not afford them..

how can you enjoy an Irish bar with no irish beer ???

Hotel is great and support it 100%. When the Jazz bar, Fish, Italian Greek restaurant and nightclub open it will be fantastic. We should be greatful people want to invest sums of money like that and even better just down the hill from my villa

one thing to beware of many if not all of the shops bars restaurants and nightclub are franchises so not under the direct control of cratos.

it will be interesting to see how many of them will be there in 1 year.

Full credit to the investors lets hope they have very deep pockets after all the hype after all how many people want to buy exclusive swim wear or fred perry products in trnc ?

Only 2 or 3 are owned by private investors all whom i know have large wallets and have vast investments in the hotel/restaurant business in Istanbul. The Jazz bar is almost there, i know a few did hope to open b4 Eid (Byram) in Turkish i think. Most of the staff are already employed and working in the Hotel also. Tradesman are working through the night to complete

message 11

so just because your bowl of rice was cold, you say it was a BIG mistake to go to roofbar. But you say the rest of the food was good, you cant slag a place off just cos the rice is cold and the chef waves good bye to you with a knife in his hand!

i know and you know you always eat your left overs from the curry take away the night before for your breakfast and cold,so why not eat a little rice at the roofbar cold!

five star hotel Cratos is nice but not the most impressive its on par with Antalya and egypt hotels

nothing that great to rave about

for the freeloaders that are going in their droves for a free glass of wine well they will all be moaning soon about the hotel im sure they will find a fault once they have to part with their pennies and pay the proper

price

my how things dont change

I went to the Cratos for their party and if you had seen the staff when they were hard at work when the place was packed maybe your attitude would be a little different. Be kind, these people worked hard and did the best they could considering they have only been at the North Shield for 3 days and were still trying to find their feet. Also the kitchen is located 2 floors below and food can take up to 20 minutes to arrive, hardly the fault of the bar staff. So ask yourself this question, could you have done it any better?

Message 11, seriously, you are going to a five star hotel and you're commenting on draught and irish beer,.

Obviously you are not used to this kind of place that does not have draught beer, you are out of your league, I suggest you DONT go back, same goes to all the other free loaders that are out to get a freebie then moan about it,

Are you one of those people that likes to have your glass dripping all over you, so not classy,,the glass was probably 16 ounces and you got the regular measure of 8zs, which is normal for 5 star places,,get real, if you are going to review a place then give a realistic review if the place.

Please dont go back if you like to have your wine filled to the rim, obviously you dont care about the taste or quality of the wine, you just want it full, ugggh cant stand to see a glass of wine filled to the rim, how are you supposed to enjoyed it, let the spenders go, would love to hear what they have to say,.

cheapo s are the pits..

turbo kind sir the cratos ha advertised the place as an irish bar ( i agree with you if going to the hotel for drinkies)

& pub to watch all live football .

IS IT UNREASONABLE THEN TO EXPECT THEM TO HAVE DRAUGHT BEERS AND ALSO IRISH BEERS AND SPIRITS.

their gin and tonics are great though

If this site had options to edit postings, I would have only had only one posting.

If I had read all the postings before I commented this is how I would have posted,

So,people please dont take offence, just my humble opinions from what I have seen in the past and can put two and two together and can see how some people are in N.Cyprus. some of the answers below were on the button

message:

8 Bulls eye,

13, bravo, more people like you required should visit and give real reviews,

16, once they get the Irish beer no one will come ,if 9 tl is too much for a small beer look at where you are drinking, its not your local corner bar, I am curious what is the actual oz size/price in the harbour ?

20, agree 100% , flied lice crowd have arrived,,,

24, right on the button , also rememebr its the TRNC, its new for them

25, good answer. they wil get better as they have more crowds to train with, maybe a little lacking to start with, hope they catch up.
