I love the people on this island, but the men here often exhibit a behaviour that sometimes annoys me. A while ago I lived for a few years in Turkey … and have observed that the TC (and Turkish) men here behave in a similar way to those on the mainland … in that they would seem to have a constant need to adjust their genitalia ... especially it would seem, when they are approaching a woman. Someone said to me it's a Mediterranean trait. What do you think?

I do see my husband and son adjust when they are at home. I do not see them do it in public which means there must be a discreet way to do it. Since you asked, I can tell you when I see a man in public adjusting for longer than a second, I think to myself, "Well he must be a disgusting, smelly, hairy funk-ball," and I feel badly for the woman in his life. Ick.

Re : message 8 : But Simbas, don't you feel this behaviour is more prevalent here than, say, in Western Europe ... maybe it's just that I have been away from the UK for too long ... and am not aware that British men are behaving in much the same way. Re : Message 9 : Simhar said that "If your bra was uncomfortable wouldn't you ease/adjust the straps in public." I agree with Simbas' comment in message 10, when she states that the two behavioour are a "little different" - drawing attention to the male genitalia is considered to be more unacceptale – after all, we've never had page 3 hunks have we? ;-)

| Hi, I agree that this seems to be meditterean trait as when we lived in Italy I often used to see men doing this. It also seems to be a habit of middle eastern men as well when they are wearing suits. Maybe this is because after wearing their normal loose fitting garbs, they find suits uncomfortable. | Or perhaps it is because they are raised in a society that females are not so offended that males adjust body parts in public so don't feel it nescessary to worry about british womens sensibilities. In an honest answer to your original question, it is perhaps not a mediteranean trait to do this it is perhaps a northern european trait not to. My wife has pointed out to me that it is not nice to do this in public and my question is always, why are you looking at the mans genitalia?? When I look at another womans bits, I am sure to get into trouble |

I remember as a youngster being asked by a tailor "which side do you dress, Sir ?" when being fitted for a suit. I asked my mother (who to me knew the answer to everything) "why". Mother explained that the tailor factors in the cut of the trousers what the customer finds most comfortable ie hang to left or right. I thought how stupid is that until I caught my little todger in a zip and went through some of the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. Thus I would hope that anyone who has suffered that has it taken into mitigation if they become for the rest of their lives a serial and public (not pubic) "adjuster" as it is suicidal to leave things central. The trauma still lives with me as my Wilderbeest (bless her) believes that incident must have been what caused my brain damage. Hang in there chaps left or right never the middle

Hi bonnie1707, "But don't you feel Navek that often the purpose of the behaviour is for us to shift our gaze from the face to the to the groin area." Never having been in a situation like that, I wouldn't know. I'm not likely to try it either, as I may end up being slapped twice, once by the offended party and once, at least by the wife :-( Navek

Bonnie, too painful a memory and too much information for some to discuss any further. Suffice to say that I did not think it funny but the doctor soon had me in stitches, and when I returned to school I had to suffer in History classes subjects such as Oliver Cromwell, Cavaliers and Roundheads etc. If I resort to wearing a slip it will be to cover my face instead of the cricket box I using currently

NAVEK!!! I don't walk around staring at men's crotches. We are talking about those that go into a spastic fit adjusting their junk. I have a husband and two sons. I understand that things stick. But having a spastic seizure over it is ridiculous. Deputydawg, you made me laugh and I hope you saw the movie "Something About Mary." If not, it is truly worth watching the beginning to see Ben Stiller zip himself up!

Deputydawg The tailor asking which side you dress is not so that he can make the cut of your suit accordingly, rather it is so that he can avoid touching it when measuring your inside leg! Heaven forfend...

In any case, my TC partner told me that Turkish men don't shave any more than Western European men ... though after a pause ... she did add that she hasn't seen all that many nude Turkish men to say for certain |

Re ; msg 55 Hi again Zerochlor, Firstly let me apologise for presuming that you personally cleaned the pools. But on the subject of hairs in pools, there is something that puzzles me - In a number of pools in the UK the men are not allowed to wear loose-fitting swimming shorts. I was told by someone that tight-fitting trunks are required so that the pubic hairs don't clog up the "pump baskets". Interestingly though, people could enter without wearing swimming caps. Any comments on this Zerochlor?

To be honest crumpy, ive only ever heard of denim shorts or cut off jeans not being able to be worn in pools back home, maybe because of the dye comming out. But you are correct, the baskets in the pump, not so much the filter,as we never really look inside the filter,as the basket in the pump normally catches all the hair and other small particles. i have seen some baskets when we have took over a pool and you would think some 1 had been scalped with the amount of hair inside, yukkie,im sure alot of so called pool cleaners do not know there is a basket in the pump which should be cleaned each time the pool is cleaned.

Re : msg 58 Zerochlor wrote "I've only ever heard of denim shorts or cut off jeans not being able to be worn in pools back home." To be honest Zerochlor, the rule to not wear baggy shorts was imposed at my local swimming pool in Warsaw (where I recently lived for two years) ... and it was Polish friends that told me it was brought in because of pubic hair clogging up some part of the filters. I presumed it would be the same in the UK.

Maybe your right,i really do not know, normally the pump basket catches all the hair before if gets to the filter,if the basket is in good condition. For me it does not matter if i wear speedos od loose trunks
