Having been a bit of a lurker on here for a while ( although I did have a log in about 2 years ago that I set up while in TRNC, but couldn't get onto it when I needed. I forgot all details !) I thought I would ask you all where you're all from before you got to TRNC or whether you come 'n' go like my in-laws.

Whether UK, Europe or rest of world.

Not in a nosey kind of way, just if anyone is from anywhere near my present and previous abodes.

Which are - East Ham, London. Hornchurch, Essex. Ashingdon, Essex (present) TRNC next, one day !

Mrs. Intercepter is Southend-on-Sea and Great Wakering, Essex. ( present Ashingdon, Essex )

But have worked all over the UK so will probably know places where you may be from, plus have a lot of family in Northern Ireland & Eire.

I have met a few people on here in real life, and found them genuine nice folk, TC & UK

just curious that's all.

Born in Grays too!!! Dad had a business there so if you're as old as me you might remember it - Saxton's (wholesale/retail tobacconist and confectionary). Went to school at Grays Convent then Havering Tech in Hornchurch. After marriage moved to Rainham then Blackmore. Left UK in 1979 to live in Canada, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and now living in TRNC. We've been around a bit but now living in the best place!!!!!!!

mint1955 - msg 14, that would be nice. The people that own Soyz Bar I believe had a business in Collier Row Romford. I met them in late April when I popped in there for a swift half. The heavens opened so I took shelter for longer than anticipated. Went back a few days later with my missus and had a lovely chat with the lady who owns the bar with her husband, can't remember her name though. Nice folk. Could be a venue.

Not sure about the shop name, had a look on web and it looks like it's a HSBC now, not sure about name will have to ask my father.

Pandy - my sister lives in Herts and the company I work for is based near Ware. My folks are in NI, plus relatives all over Eire.

Jimbo - Mintz & Davies opposite The Bitter End I think, my old boyswear store !

Groucho - Hungerford brings back some memories to me. Used to drive from Essex to there, and when we had to work at the weekends remember the newsagents being the only place open on a Sunday morning to try and get some vitals to liven us up for a days work after partying the night before usually in Southend !

26 years ago possibly !

Stop it!! We'll have nothing to talk about when we meet in a bar or whatever...leave some room for conversation as in, erm "Where u from then?" "Ireland/Wales/anyothercountry" Conversation goes dead if you say, Oh yea, you told me on Cuprus44....and you bored me then...

Well, without wishing to bore anyone - me, born Dartford, lived Crayford and Sidcup.

Himself - born Greenwich, lived Deptford/Eltham/Sidcup.

We now live in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and would never go back.

I have exensive knowledge of the pubs in the Old Kent Road during my misspent youth in the late 70's. Does anyone remember the Bon Bonne nightclub - I have a feeling of deja vu (this has been mentioned before)

Jeannie perhaps too "expensive" knowledge of the pubs Myself, born Hendon NW9, in random order had homes in Grays, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Stannningfield, Stowmarket, Battisford, Gt Blakenham, Gibraltar, Belfast, South Cyprus, Bulford, Germany, Catterick, Warminster, Aldershot, Bassingbourn and other places long forgotten all punctuated with unaccompanied living Belfast, Londonderry (aggregated to 5 years), South Atlantic, British Guina (Guyana), Belize, Kenya, etc, and many places 2 or 3 times. Once calculated that we had lived in over 22 locations worldwide and this whirling around in ever decreasing circles before our longest stop ever 6 years in Northern Cyprus. My family believe that the Cyprus of the 1970s was the most beautiful place on earth.
