Book into Balki Plaza or Arch Houses and just spend lazy days wandering about.

Save money:

Get a photograph of a donkey to look at now and again then go to nearest beach and look at mountains. Job done!

We went up there about 2wks ago - watch the car cos of the unfinished road- we thought we had broken ours.

Didn't see any donkeys! but definately had an 'adventure' as we also drove round to Bogaz (nice fish restaurants) & got lost on several occassions - so took 4hrs to get to Bogaz (including the Karpas trip) but about 40 mins to get back to Kyrenia

The best place to stay ( for us)- "Oasis" .

When you are in the center of the Dipkappas village turn to the left and go towards the sea.

You will follow the sign "Oasis".

A beautiful bay with a sandy beach , donkies, a beautiful Greek nonastery.

The food is good.

We can recommend.

Arches hotel is very nice.

Also: take the trip all the way out to the tip of the peninsula (to the monastery and beyond.) The nature/landscape up the the monastery is wonderful (the best in Cyprus??) -but should preferably be seen in winter/spring ..when everything is green and lush. The Golden beach should not be missed!

Brilliant. Haven't laughed so much for ages

Anyway, we stayed at Blue Sea Hotel and it was lovely. Very basic but a lovely setting and very nice people.

We're going back again when we're out again.

Message 14. Yeah gray just be very careful when you do take the mrs up the Kapaz as the wrong and right ways are very close together. very easy to miss the right turning and you'll end up in the S*** up a dirt track

In all seriousness tho' (if thats possible now) We drove to the end of the Karpaz a few years ago and clever cloggs here decided that according to the car hire road map there was a different way back. Well after about half an hour driving at 15mph and the road getting worse and worse, up and down, big pools of water no mobile signal we eventually came to a..........................locked gate across the road (well.. track) so we had to turn back. At one point told mrs & co to get out of the car as I didn't think we'd make up through this big muddy pool of water. You should have seen the state of the car!!!!!!! when we got back. I had to go and get it cleaned as I couldn't have returned it to the car hire co in that state

So yes........... you could say I took the mrs up the Karpaz, took a wrong turn and ended up in the s***

I took my wife up there a couple of years ago. We both enjoyed it. She wants me to take her up there again but i get tired quickly these days as it's quite a long way. Myother in law wanted me to take her up there, but she's 87 and I wouldn't want her to get unwell half way up there.

Yes No1 its a long way, especially if your mrs is very tall she'll need a lot of headroom otherwise it'll be an extremely uncomfortable journey up the karpaz

I think I might pull out all the stops and do it again myself this year!!!!

We went in May and stayed at Burhan's beach bungalows. I booked online and rather naively thought a two bed bungalow was a two bedroomed bungalow. I was rather disconcerted to get there with Mr s and friend, to find that there were two double beds in the 'bungalow'! Fortunately, the mosquito nets were thick and protected my modesty, but I was awake all night, frightened in case I snored and disturbed our friend. Mr s has learnt to cope with my snoring (although I do tell him it is a figment of his imagination). The scenery is amazing .... but we did hunt high and low for donkeys and saw none.

we went..........not a good experiece getting there, at one stage the road was so bad - huge holes in the road, no steel to cover them over with, yet the road was still open. Hit or miss whether you made it or not.....too far to turn back and try another route so we went for it and as we went over the gaps in the road the dirt was falling into the holes making the gaps in the road even bigger. There were a couple of locals sat by these huge gaps on their chairs, watching all these people trying to manouvre over them....obviously their amusement for the evening. Once we did get off this road the rest was amazing, hopefully when the road is finished it will be easier to get to, but there again, many more people will be able to get there too....take yourt toothbrush and stay over, too far for one day......

Be careful on the new road lots of diversions. We spent 2 days at Burhans beach was fantastic, huts basic but clean - 1 double bed , 1 sink, 1 loo and 1 fan which we could not have managed without. We had a choice of huts to take . The hut cost 48 euros per night. Food OK the steaks were good most dishes had chips. The beach is lovely for swimming in the sea. Total relaxation, but take a torch they switch the generator off at 1 am and is pitch black until daybreak. Took us 4 hours to drive there from Alsancak.

We stayed at Oasis in September, it was fantastic the evening meal was lovely and breakfast just as good. It was hubbys birthday whilst we were there and I asked if they would be able to organise a cake for me. They did just so and it was delicious, not sure which Lemar they went to but it was a fair way!!

Once I had got over the initial shock of not having an ensuite and walking to the toilet in the night I thoroughly enjoyed our time there, ok it was a little windy to say the least but it is such a beautiful spot.

Would definitley recommend it - only saw one donkey though as didnt go all the way up to the end but one is better than none!

Villa Carparis in Dipkarpaz is excellent - €50 a night for the room B&B spotlessly clean, and beautifully furnished. Dinner at Manoliya restaurant in the village, try the "village chicken dish" - v.v. good.

If you're going to take the mrs up the karpaz, do it in style!!
