No. Unless you are the first and only registered owner.

I understood that you can import car over 5 years old so long as you have owned it more than 5 years.

Oh b..l..ks, sent our car over earlier this year on that basis. Still trying to work out how we can keep it in NC. Tried paying the import tax etc in June. Wanted bank account, residency permit, all got horrible complicated. Did manage to get car tax extended inline with UK tax disc. Decided to leave it until next visit.

Does nothing in the TRNC remain constant?

Sorry, that one has been same for some time as far as I know.

Same as another person who bought a vehicle, probably at auction, and expected that to be price for tax. In the end tax was more than what they paid for vehicle.

As per your last sentence, keep checking, who knows what might happen. This government is so desperate for money they may give you a get out clause. Then that is me being a cynic!!!! Sorry.

You have to get agreement from the Classic Car Club of North Cyprus to import a classic as they have dispensation from the Government to issue the import licence. As far as I know, it isn't just a case of the vehicle being over 25 years old but the Club must agree for the car to be here.

I have ımported a 9 year old estate car from UK whıch I have owned sınce new. I have today been to the customs offıce (probable my 6th vısıt overall) to obtain exact detaıls you are askıng. Yes I can ımport ıt but the ımport duty is USdollars 19.00 per cc plus TNC tax so my car would cost me over 4 thousand pounds notwıthstandıng thıs was only 2 thousand pounds 2 months ago. The car ın UK ıs worth about 500 pounds. I can keep the car here legally until 31.12.2008 (when Englısh Tax runs out) then either pay the ımport duty or return ıt to uk. I have alot of thınkıng to do.

Nothıng here ıs sımple. I have been fobbed off many tımes at the customs offıce and when I return wıth the documents prevıously requested they then come up wıth another scenario and when you comply wıth that another replaces ıt. Best of luck ıf you do go ahead
