My friend just had her blood test done in Girne (100tl) and was given an injection after they took her blood, and I was just wondering what this injection could of been for. The Dr didn't speak english so the question fell on deaf ears.

They sort of scrape your arm....not an actual ınjectıon. İts for TB, if your arm swells up you are in trouble !!! Unless its something else new !!!

I cannot understand why people who live here all the time use PAYG? PAYG is 30% dearer. It makes no sense for residents to use it. Once upon a time, you had to change phone numbers when changing from PAYG to post paid contract arrangement & many people would not change for that reason. This hasn't been the case for years now & it's easy to change. At least if you have a contract, you receive an itemised bill & you have something that you can query? I have used Turkcell for 9 years & have never yet had a problem with my bill. I keep it simple & have standart tariff.

Tarry The injection is indeed a test for TB. It's a very minor injection into the skin not the blood vessels. If after 48 hours nothing more than a slight irritation (a bit like a minor mozzie bite) occurs then they won't need to go for X-rays... It may be slightly raised and red... goes away after day three.

I suppose the government thinks that we [expats only] are all going to get TB after buying their country's 'craftsman constructed' 'concrete tents', knowing full well that these 'structures', minus any damp-proofing, are highly liable to harbour the 'Tuberculosis' virus. I wish I could find the above funny - but what other explanation can there possibly be?

Funny; I could have sworn I was tested for that (TB) at school. Obviously only non Turkish foreigners under the age of 60 can get or spread TB, HIV, Typhoid, Cholera, Hepatitis B etc. Strange how British born Cypriots are immune from the above. Must be in the genes.
