Returning the favour..... I had the same "illegal" problem last year, upgraded on line with no problems, at the time they were offering a trial period for 30 days then I purchased the Microsoft Office Home and Student at £86.00

I am sure there will be many others suggestions but hope this helps.

I sent one of my laptops to Baseline computers in Girne to re-format the hard drive and they loaded an (illegal/non registered copy) of Windows 7 Ultimate, Plus backed up some files for 50tl.

Had no problems with messages and windows update works fine. Plus they loaded AVG Anti-virus. All for 50 tl.

PC World are selling windows 7 Ultimate for just under £200.

Before anyone says anything about it being illegal, I dont care cos Bill Gates has more money than you or me + he looks like a nonse

RE msg 5, Tootie: (...) Before anyone says anything about it being illegal, I dont care cos Bill Gates has more money than you or me + he looks like a nonse (...)

=> Nice one, Tootie! So: your car is bigger than mine so you have more money than me and you wouldn't care if I take (steal) your car etc..?

Hans, I would love for you to steel my car. But pls make sure it leaves the island or I cant clam on the insurance.

Also my car may be bigger than yours (in size) but yours is worth more than a donkey.

i have a crack for vista, windows 7 and xp as well :-p although i got all my copies (originals) free from Microsoft as one of the benefits of being a member of the National Society for Black Engineers... the licence runs out for the number of activated copies of vista/win7, hence i need a crack to keep using my original copy each time i format (i format my computer quite often, and i've formated over 2 dozen other computers for people as well).

so its original, and from Microsoft itself. it activates without problems sometimes (most times, especially on my computer) and at other times (sometimes on other people's computers) i'd just have to "crack" it.

Illegal versions last 90 days (at the most) - Microsoft introduced a phone home policy. Every 90 days, Windows connects to servers and updates it's definitions . Any new "cracks" are dealt with and Windows is disabled.

Wait and see.

@andrew4232: i know it does, but i have a looong line of satisfied "customers" i've been doing this for years without complains. You can update without problems, like any other copy of windows.

i know this is outside the topic of this thread, but i also have a lighter, faster version of windows. its a slipstreamed or slim-fitted version using the software and "customers" have actually confessed that it's fast!

i'm a computer engineer and and i do what i do well

You can stop the message easily.

Search Google for "remove wga" if you want to do it yourself, very easily.

or go to http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/RemoveWGA.shtml

Oh no you can't! - Every crack leaves tell tale signs behind and during 'phone home' they (Microsoft) look for them and if present, Windows is disabled.

Computer engineer! What's that?

well, i've used some cracks that have failed obviously, but what i use now has not failed for 2yrs now. its a complete crack without problem. Plus... my vista/win7 are originals from microsoft, only that the activation licence has limited users.
