Can I please ask you to read Rule 5 which states;

5. Freedom of Speech

We respect every member's right to post his/her opinions, on all issues except ones questioning the legality of TRNC.

If you do not accept this rule, do not join to the board.

Any violations of this rule will result in immediate banning of your account.

The rules are there to be adhered to. Please help us to keep the forum a happy place where anyone can post without fear of reprisal.

Good point well made....

Now I'm not expecting a raft of apologies from the 'TRNC issues only' brigade who are constantly attempting to stifle debate.... But you can live in hope...

Let's just hope they get the message and understand the meaning of the last two sentences of the rule.

Wyn this part of the rule is about the government, its constitution, TRNC and its right to exist as a legal country.... not about an individual.

i.e. you can talk about anything you like but you must not bring into question the right of the TRNC to exist.

Wyn please bear with me. I'm on an iPhone and it looks like I'm the only admin here.

I'll give an amnesty of a couple of days on this to give people time to read and understand the rule.

After that we will enforce the rule.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

questioning the legality of TRNC by that does it mean we cannot question the tactics etc of the system or the way the legal system is interpreted or does it mean we cannot question if TRNC is legal as I think thats two differant issues if you could expand please

I think the rule need to be clarified. Questioning the legality of the TRNC is not the same thing as stating that the TRNC is illegal.

There have been many posts questioning/discussing the legality of the TRNC, and the board is better for it. It would be a shame to use draconian rules to remove that sort of discussion.

In TRNC everything is LEGAL regarding TRNC.

I hope that clarifies your question 'ianwfs'.

You and I are singing from the same hymnsheet.

These draconian rules COULD effectively make Cy 44 an organ of the state! Clarification is required!

I'll ignore Vickis and Hans posts.

For the rest of you, except Gavin, I think you have missed the point of my reference to Rule 5.

The point I'm trying to make is this; "We respect every member's right to post his/her opinions, on all issues"

Certain members on here are continually posting on threads about the relevance of their posts to the TRNC. Hence - Rule 5. RESPECT EVERY MEMBER'S RIGHT TO POST HIS/HER OPINIONS, ON ALL ISSUES.

For what it's worth, my interpretation of the wording of rule 5 is that one cannot question the right of the TRNC to exist as a legal independent state. Maybe the rule needs to be amended to clarify exactly what is 'off-limits'.

I believe (and hope) that it does not forbid members to question or debate such issues as governmental policy, legal issues within the TRNC (provided all care is taken not to libel individuals) or anything else that could be deemed as anti-establishment. C44 is the only medium where the expat and local population can regularly get together to discuss such issues and it would be a great shame if this (often animated) debate was to be stifled rather than 'moderated'.

Just my opinion of course

What does it matter anyway. It exists and has existed since 1983. It is a matter of time before it is recognized by the UN. It's about time TCs took matters in their own hands and forced the issue to hurry things up a bit.

My GC cousins are in for a shock very very very soon.

I hope you do realize that everyone from the crappy forum do actually read what is being written here.

So TRNC Hellim to all my gc cousins enjoying life in the southern lands especially the ones who like hellim in tins in which are cylindrical shaped specially created from them due to their greek habits. Soon they will have their own country too. Ohps I forgot they lost theirs in 2004 to the EU. Damn careless if you ask me.

Not to have it is one thing but really to have it and give it away, what ever next?

There is a funny side to everything. You will find that if you see the funny side you can fight harder.

You guys should have been in Cyprus when we were enclaved and surrounded by the b'stards being shot at every which way. I realise that your problems are different but can't be as bad as we had it, cause ours was life and death situation, and the UN was worse than bloody useless at protecting us.

Is this really Izzet's and the Moderators' communis opinio or is this your solo campaign for more jokes, more British sport and more British whatever - and less subjects related to TRNC?

I appreciate your answer. Thank you.

Hans

With the greatest of respect, I don't think that anyone would question your right to ask for more people to show an interest in the TRNC, the problem lies in the way that you sometimes react to people who don't have the same level of interest as yourself.

People should be permitted (within the bounds of decency and legality) to post on whichever subject they choose. If the post sparks the interest of someone then they will post a reply, if not then the post will be ignored. The subject is immaterial. Surely this is the basis of a general, not specialist forum ?

7. New Topic Titles

Use a title that describes the content of your post. Do not use all caps or special characters to draw attention.

Do not post one-word titles under any circumstances.

8. Personal Posts

Do not post member specific questions. Eg. "Who is LittleIzzet?" or "John please call me today as I am leaving home soon"

Enough said.

Goodbye!
