Last night driving across the Iskelle / Essenteepe mountain road at approx 11 pm i saw what i thought was a firework streaking across the sky, but declining not rising. It was silver / blue/ lilac, it crashed to the right hand side of the road about 6ft from my car. the body of it was bigger then a large pumkin, as it nearly hit the ground i saw silver streaks comming from it. Never seen anything like it before. I have just seen on the web that NASA have stated two big asteroids were close to earth on wednesday, maybe the two are connected. Did anyone else see it or similar?

No we'll have the GCs wanting 5 to fall on to their side to balance it. You can kiss good by to an agreement. Hang on a mo, maybe somebody can throw a few stones across the border that will fool them.

Remember where it fell and go fetch it. Meteorites are worth a fortune to collectors.

Can a meteor the size of a pumkin really fall 6 foot away from him and survive who is he kidding? Probaply somebody threw a rock at his car and missed.

There was no GCs about was there? I hear some crossed the border recently at the Checkpoint Charlui.

I just looked on Meteoroid From Wikipedia, on there is a picture of a Bolide. It looks similar, but the one we saw had flashes of light streaks from it. That road is very dark. It lit up ever where, like an exploding rocket It happened very quickly. never seen anything like it before.

I also saw what appeared to be a large ball of light travelling at great speed whilst eating out in Ozankoy, but there again have seen them many times before here. They are amazing, and makes you feel good to be alive and priviledged to see such phenomena. Certainly gives you a buzz.

The government have just brought in a Meteor tax anyone seeing them must report it imediatly to the tax office and you willbe taxed depending on the size of the Meteor you the have to go for a blood test to find out if you have been contaminated.

P.S. only if you are a ex pat !!!!!!!!!

helper: There was a very big firework display in the vicinity of the Merit Hotel last night at around 11pm.

Some of them were massive. We were watching from The Roof bar.

The smaller an asteroid, the more numerous they are, is the general rule of thumb for our solar system. According to the best estimates, objects 3 meters across impact the Earth and deliver about 2 kilotons of TNT of energy. Objects 100 meters across collide with the Earth every few hundred years and deliver about 2 Megatons of TNT equivalent. A 1 kilometer-sized object impacts the Earth every million years or so and delivers about 100,000 Megatons of TNT. If this object did hit, then it would have left a large hole together with a small explosion. Go back and check it out.
