I don't think Royal Mail is the problem here, I think the Turkish Postal service is to blame. Last month I sent 2 letters from Antalya. The one to Girne took 1 month to arrive, the other to London has not arrived... No Royal Mail involved in this.

I could have walked from Antalya to Girne in less than one month?

I received a letter from HM Revenue & Customs in a BROWN envelope in 9 days.

I also received a letter from HM Revenue & Customs in a WHITE envelope, it took 6 months and 5 days !!!!

Moral of the story, tell everyone to use brown envelopes.

Remember if you are sending mail within Turkey.

You should write everything in Turkish. You should not use the word Cyprus in the envelope.

Mersin: 10 KKTC

If you want your mail intantly ,

What if it's a small parcel, not just a letter? Is there anyway to improve the chances of receiving it? And how long would it normally take?

It just seems to be potluck! Some mail takes ages. some never comes and then it surprises you by being prompt. I ordered some seeds from Thompson and Morgan to be sent to Dipkarpaz. After a month I phoned and the said don't worry. Turkish customs are very slow. After three month they said, we'll send you some more. They took less than two weeks to arrive from the UK.

Fortunately T & M Worldwide said they will refund me if I did not receive anything, great people and they sell a lot of Italian seeds that will be used to Meditereanean climate. I brought some ordinary red flowered runner beans, which ev erybody loved as there runners don't have red flowers, but they did not set very well and even the young beans were stringy

JoanneM PO Box in South - 30 Euro for 2 years. You get 2 keys, so get a friend to share address and cost with you. Main PO in Prodromos St the best bet, but if you just want to walk over, try the one at the end of Ledra Street. Ask for form, fill in and they will let you know when available if none free when you apply.
