I am wondering if Tenkoutou knows the best way to determine the sex of green tree frogs. Have had in the garden pond 1 frog for 3 years (named Freddie). Having myself walked around the garden making croaking noises for these 3 years at last I have attracted a mate for him. In the absence of any sexual activity at this time of year (the frogs that is) I realise that Freddie could be Fredericka and I know not what to call the newcomer. (Not Kermit as he turned red in a liquidizer at the flick of a switch). On www it advises that if they keep croaking they are probably male but I croak for them as I want them to live long and happy lives and not croak ! I could be dealing here with a male and female but equally it could be 2 Jaffas or 2 Dykes. Can any one help please other than by sending for the ambulance with square wheels and men in white coats?

Reminds me of the frog that phoned up a psychic hot line, he was told that he was going to meet a beautiful young gorgeous female, who would want to know all about him. He asked is this going to happen at the party I'm going to tonight...No was the reply.... at the next biology semester.

You told me that you were "spawned" a "Marine" creature and I have never been anything more than "a Grunt". Perhaps you will continue being a wee, naughty "Toad" inviting females to your pool and I have to be satisfied with the company of my "Pond Life" I suppose we should be grateful that we were not "woodentops"

Well, DD, when we lived in Paphos and had the Koi ponds, we were inundated with dozens of those pesky little wide-mouth, green tree frogs. They used to make such a din, usually, it seemed, as soon as I picked up the mobile phone to talk. However, if I yelled: 'Shut the F up!', they would go silent for a spell, but would soon resume their cacophony. Amazingly, if they fall into a water container [or your beer glass!], they swiftly drown - very unfrog-like!

There were two, whom we called Tweedledum & Tweedledee, that lived in a hanging amphora in the gazebo overlooking the ponds; they both appeared every evening at dusk, sitting on the rim, facing each other.

As for sexing them - I'm as nonplussed as you are, and can only suggest looking up their credentials!

Thanks Tenakoutou. As Jock1 said earlier "that reminds me of"... Little Robin Red Breast, sat upon his bowl, put his head between his legs and, whistled up his h....e (shirtsleeve !). After that I will now sign your petition re birds.

Since you've signed the petition, I'm delighted to hear that Froggy's credentials checked out for you, DD!
