The answer if defintely yes with a GC driving licence. Many people get a GC licence and then change them for UK licences after one year of driving in the UK. Not sure about TC ones though. DD

The Turkish Cypriot one is valid for one year only where as the Greek one is acceptable at all times.

Did you notice that in the south it's a licence (English spelling).. In the north it's a license (American spelling)

Message 6. Not quite correct. Both licences are valid for use for up to 12 months. After that time, the RoC licence MUST be exchanged for a UK licence, but there is no test involveed. The TRNC licence is no longer valid and you will need to get a provisional licence and pass the various tests.

Just added for clarification. If you are on a TRNC licence, you can take your tests during the 12 months so you can ensure there is no break in driving. If you fail the test, (or even several tests) you can still use the TRNC licence until the end of the 12 months. The other question that often crops up, is when does the 12 months start. If you are resident outside the UK, it starts from the date of your last visit. If moving to the UK as a resident, it starts from the date of your residency. This means that somebody who passed their test in the TRNC and visits the UK for 11 months out of 12, need never take a UK test. (Mind you, if you were to drive the way people do here, you'd soon loose your UK permission to drive. Just because you have a foreign licence, doesn't mean you can't be banned!)

Plus of course, the UK authorities cannot apply points to a non EU driving license, Not condoning motoring offences, just pointing it out.
