Don't know why I am worried the only letters that ever get to us are from the taxman anyway, just not seen him about and wondered if procedure had reverted back to picking it up ourselves from coop. Thanks for responding, I will let u know if I find out anything.

I have a post box in Karsiyaka, but there's never any mail in it although I know at least six letters/cards have been sent from England. Does anyone know if the post office in Lapta (who are responsible for the deliveries to post boxes in Karsiyaka) is still operating. I have been there on at least six occasions during the past month on different days and at different times and it is always closed with the next door cafe's tables and chairs spread right across the front of the post office. They are also left in this position during the night ?

Cem, who was based at Lapta Post Office and used to do the deliveries in Karsiyaka, has been transferred to Girne Post Office. They don't seem to have a replacement at the moment, and I collected my friends mail (who lives in Karsiyaka) from Lapta Post Ofice. Poodledog, you must have been unlucky, because they are always open when I go, but they do shut in the afternoon. I have to say I have never seen the cafe's tables and chairs in front of the post office either. Are you sure you are going to the right building? (I'm not being funny or rude, but next door does look like the post office, as a couple of times I have tried their door by mistake.)

Hi Stellasstar 1

I know they close around lunchtime but have been there at different hours of the morning from 9.30 onwards on different days of the week (including Saturday) over the past three/four weeks and certainly found it closed on every occasion. I am going to the right shop because that's where I set up my PO Box and I have posted items and purchased stamps there in the past. I am fairl;y certain that when I went there last week, there was a grill across the window and the cafe's tables and chairs were right acrosss the window and doorwaY.

I didn't know North Cypus had postmen. Thought you had to have a postoffice box and go collect.

Well all I can say is that I was their last Tuesday and Wednesday and it was open both days, and the coffee tables were outside the cafe and up to the door of the Post Office, not in front of the Post Office. I drive past their a lot, and often see them sitting outside having a coffee and chat, but never blocking the doorway. Thursday and Friday they were shut because it was Bayram and they do not open on Saturdays. If anyone is waiting post, you should go in to the Post Office as they have 2 drawers that are full of post, waiting to be collected, or they did the week before last.

I have just (yesterday) posted something to a p o box in Karsiyaka, I have told my mum to keep an eye out, but do you reckon she should try the lapta post office if the letter has not arrived in their p o box within a couple of weeks?????

I have just been to lapta post office and picked up our mail, they no longer have the postman on a moped delivering for us, there is a big bundle of mail to go through just like when the coop held it in karsiyaka. At least we all know now.

Billyboy, I don't know about P.O. Boxes in Karsiyaka, but as I said earlier, their is no longer a postman to deliver letters and you have to go to Lapta Post Office to collect your mail,. so yes, your mum should go to Lapta Post Office.
