Rowlo are you saying you have to pay to see his holiness. Jeaz is this a rock concert. Catholics of the world deserve the chance. I escorted the last pope as i was the only catholic cabin crew. No charges for all the crowds. I cant beleive this is now commercial.

And where will all this money go? Does the Catholic church need it? Will it go to local charities? Will everyone be able to afford this kind of money.

And no doubt on the day more money will be gathered in from selling the usual souvenir rubbish!

If one of the 'pop stars' charged the public, appearance money like this there would be a huge public outcry! Just my opinion.

Just heard that my clarsach (harp) lesson is cancelled today as our tutor is playing for the Pope.

(don't know what he's playing!)

I hope the Pope gets asked some serious questions over his Church's lack of action over the child abuse scandal...

I see the Roman Catholic Church in Belgium has now admitted that child abuse by priests and teachers has occurred in every single diocese there.

There should be no hiding place for these scoundrels...

In another thread i skirted the subject of sex offenders, which covers a wide range, the statistics for england and wales is shocking,if they are true, but yes it would be good to see the pope address that subject, but never in a month of sundays would he.

The freemason thread soon went quiet when i mentioned in that thread

Dont know why!!

Surely if Catholic priests were allowed to marry that would stop a lot of abuse? They dont practice what they preach do they?

Just listend to the interview with san Deurinck,it is really shocking to hear,i would describe it as a terroist attack on his body and he is a survivor.

Why is it taking such a long time for the church to make its mind up and come clean.

Again im happy to be a athiest.

Celibacy is a relatively new requirement for priests within the Roman Catholic Church - I would suggest that as an experiment it is a failed one... however a lot of this abuse is of boys and marriage would not necessarily prevent that but every little helps I guess...

What is really disturbing is the idea that some of the abuse has been done by men acting in concert. i.e. more than one priest knowing the other's dirty secret and doing nothing about it. It seems that the RCC may have run its course and should be disbanded as a bad idea....

I have nothing against the world's religions only against what men do within them. Public flogging is too good for them. Bring back the inquisition!
