Hi , my wife purchased a Turkcell sim in August , we are back in the uk and want to keep the phone number active , the phone was asking for the pin , my wife put her phone pin in 3 times , now the card is blocked ,

the shop fitted the sim , am I right in thinking that the pin number was removed from the sim when fitted ? .

Do you still have the card that was enclosed in the envelope that came with the phone? The PIN should be on there to check to see if itsthe same one

I did the same with mine and took it back in to the Turkcell office, where they reset it for me. Unfortunately no-one else can do it for you as you have to show your id.

RE msg 2, No1Doyen: (...) Do you still have the card that was enclosed in the envelope that came with the phone? The PIN should be on there. (...)

=> If the sim card is blocked you should use the PUK 1 number to unlock the card again. You'l find the PUK 1 (and Pin 2 and PUK 2 numbers) on the envelop that held you sim card.

normally the puk code is on the credit card size plastic that your sim card was attached to,you need to scrape off the little silver tab and it will reveal your puk code.

There are 2 puk codes on that plastic

youll need puk code 1

RE msg 6, zerochlor: (...) There are 2 puk codes on that plastic (...)

=> I found two Pin codes (1 and 2) and two Puk codes (1 and two) - on the outside of the Turkcell envelop. But that is six years ago so the system may have changed.

Zero is right. You need PUK Code 1. Just scrape off the silver covering and put the code in the phone when prompted.

I didn't think you could 'keep the number going' unless you paid monthly. I'm sure you lose your number after 6 months on pay as you go.

We were told that if you don't top up your credit within 3 months you will eventually lose your number (usually 6 months later) and have to buy yet another sim card.
