a charity afternoon tea - we were offered tea but nothing to eat as all the tables were booked - would it not make more sense to bake more cakes and sell them at the event rather than refuse people who wish to donate to the charity. Black marks for 112 club

Dear Happharry, many thanks for your constructive criticism. The events are well publicised in advance and we do ask for people to reserve their places. I have assumed that you were not aware of the event and dropped in by chance. The reason we do not take up your kind suggestion is that if we place an order for 60 teas and only 45 people arrive we still have to honour our commitment to the hotel who, I have to inform you, because it is 112 work at cost which is their way of supporting us and we would then be wasting the charity's money which is kindly donated by our supporters. I hope this clarifies the situation and, incidentally, the 112 charity tea and monthly 112 quiz have been running every month for the last four years. We are informed it provides a lot of enjoyment to our supporters. Sincerely, Mike Plant Chairman of The Emergency Services Branch Fund Raising Committee

Very well said Optimistic and understandable too. When I had the BBQ for Ismail fund we had so much waisted food it was a terrible shame because the money spend could well have gone into the pot for the fund, We had so many emails and phone calls stating that people would attend but on the day they did not show up...such a terrible waist of good food and funds. But still a great day and we were able to raise 1000ytl. Good work and well done to all involved in the 112 service. Spider,X
