Deniz I don't know if it it's legal but I have taken lemons & bananas back to UK many times. I wrap them in some newspaper then put in a carrier bag in my hold luggage. I figure if I ever get the bag searched I'll plead ignorance and let them confiscate them. Maggie

You'd be 'in for the high jump' if you tried to smuggle any plant or animal matter into new Zealand, or Australia! I doubt if the regs. are any different in UK. Even as ridiculous as it is, TRNC is not recognised [for Customs purposes] as EU! Personally, I wouldn't take the risk, because if caught, you could get a substantial fine, and you'll find out that 'ignorance of the law is no excuse'.

Why would you want to take them back? They're plentiful and cheaper in the UK anywaY. Now bringing stuff in make s sense. Asparagus, Savoy cabbage, King Edward potatoes and some properly hung meat would be really nice.

I looked on the Defra uk site and potatoes are banned as they can contain potato blight organisms. Citrus fruit is allowed but no meat products or dairy products. This applies to north cyprus as it is outside EU restrictions according to the government website The reason my daughter wants to take lemons back to uk is they are from Mums tree.
