Can anyone recommend an overnight stopping place in the Antalya area which would welcome (or at least allow) pets? We will be driving over next Spring with 2 dogs and a cat! Have found a couple of places on internet but would appreciate any first hand experience.

Where are you driving from and to?

If your coming from the Bulgaria direction via Istanbul you won't need to go to Antalya, if your coming to the TRNC. You will come past Adana.

Check out the road maps online, lots of them also offer hotels on route. Then you could email them and ask the question.

Thanks blade. Getting ferry Newcastle/Amsterdam then driving to Ancona in Italy, then ferry to Cesme and coast road to Tasacu for ferry to Girne. Much less driving that way and only out of EU once reach Turkey - easier for animal documentation, etc. Antalya is approx half distance between Cesme and Tasacu.

Its very difficult to get hotels that take dogs as they really dont like them we found a hotel near tasicu but it really only let us have a room because they did not understand what had I had asked. We were the only people staying there! and at least two others refused because of the dogs yet they seemed to be empty.

The other thing we found difficult was that that you cannot just turn up and get on ferry we had to spend 2 nights waiting. Sorry I cant offer anything more positive, but thought it might help you to be aware of the difficulties which we hadnt anticipated.By the way no one looked at our paper work for the dogs from we left UK till we arrived in Cyprus

Thanks for info, Bertie. Was not aware of possible delay waiting to get suitable ferry to Girne (although not entirely surprised by this). Presumably this is to do with the dogs and finding a ferry that will take both yourselves and car? What time of year/day of week did you travel?

Has anybody else experienced delay at Tasacu recently and, if so, for what reason? Is there a better day of the week to turn up for ferry?
