Smithy.. if you read the article ...you'd read that the article is thinks his being given 'citizenship' is a scandal..!

'great men' don't makes excuses to NOT box one of the Klitchco.. boys.. having rudely gate-crashed a charity event ...;)

Sorry but for we mortals that have not mastered the Turkish language due to being 'cok tembel' could someone please say what the article says. Also, if he has citizenship how come he has left here taking his lovely wife and kids, or is he laying low to keep anonimity when he comes to the gym. Please share what you know with his interested fans.

The article doesn't think it's a scandal that he's been given citizenship - they think it's a scandal that another sportsman Mehmet Kome hasn't been given citizenship despite the fact that he is on the national Taekwondo team. The article also says that David Haye lives in TRNC and trains in Girne, but I think that might be old news.

thanks Ally, but I am really confused now. WHEN was David given a citizenship because I didn't know he wanted one. Who gave it and why, because he doesn't live here any more, and you are right it is 'old news'. Someone else said they knew David';s villa, but as far as I knew in spite of ealry plans to have one built here, they rented and that is the only 'villa' I knew. They left months ago, and last I heard David was trianing in Westminster, although maybe he does come here occasionally as the gym was owned by his trainer (and father).

But what I wonder is the real truth in it all. I know what i know, and I expect other people know what other people know, and as Natasha Haye said, most of what they read about themselves is NOT true - so again I ask, WAS David actually given citizenship.

RE msg 5, smithy: (...) great man (...)

=> Hmmm. The doctor who might save your life tomorrow is just another man and the man who deliberately tries to knock another human being into a (temporary) coma (this wonderful "K.O.") is a "great man"?! I have a very different idea about people who deserve to be called "great men" in our age. It's time for some here to leave the Roman times, this is 2010.

mmmmmm - yes that is the title, but the article thereafter is about citizenship being given to one sportsman while being withheld from the another (Mehmet Kose from the national Taekwondo team). That is the "scandal", not the fact that David Haye was given citizenship.

Maz - no idea. It doesn't mention when and why he was given citizenship, and as the article states that the family still live in the TRNC I'd doubt the accuracy of rest of the article too.

Having seen how David Haye can punch I think he should be given citizship as many times as he wants in whatever countries he chooses and always Gratis in case he finds out where I live. (I am also angling for the Nobel Peace Prize for Cowardice)

I'm HOPING it is a Cypriot 'delicacy ' - which I'm afraid *I* didn't like - somewhat akin to something I'd give a Budgie ?! ....

Yes, you're probably thinking of the right thing mmmmmm but I'm pretty sure it'd kill any budgie. I'm not big on almonds and pomegranates and sesame as a snack either, yeuch..
