Anyone been to the Ambience restaurant lately?

We have on 2 occasions on the last 6 weeks or so and will not be going again.

It is not at all what it was.

Six of us went recently and 3 people asked for steak to be cooked 'medium and no blood'.

This request was because 4 weeks prior to this we went and had great trouble with the steak being undercooked for our liking, and this resulted in the removal of several meals in order to have them re-cooked. Consequently half of our party havd to eat at a different time than the others or wait and then eat their food cold.

When our meals arrived this time ...... guess what! Blood all over the plates as the meat was under-cooked!

The owner came over and was unbelievably rude and stated that 'a chef can not see inside the meat to know whether it still ha blood or not in it' !!!!!

Since then 4 lots of our friends have had similar experiences. This used to be an excellent restaurant. What has happened??

Andrew is right, normally steaks are cooked to boot leather, so i'd be thankful that it wasn't! I must say though, that a client of mine went there last night for his daughters birthday, and they had a superb meal...steak was cooked perfectly....and they had a great time....

In my experience Medium steak should be slightly Red and there will be blood therefore. Not a problem for me as I like my steak so that a good vet could get it on its feet but I do find that there is a tendency to overcook in TRNC

This is the only place where if we asked for 'no blood' we did get blood.

Really I am simply passing on ours and others experience and feel free to go there ..... we certainly will not go again

Not a regular user of the restaurant ,but the last time we went the steaks we had where cooked perfectly.

(I do like to see some blood in mine)

In fact we find the Ambiance to be one of the more consistent restaurants here for good food and service.

Next time ask for a 'steak tartare', that should sort you out!

Harold if medium steak is allowed to rest then no blood should escape when it's cut... Even a very rare steak will not bleed if its rested before being served.

We are spoiled for steak in the Esentepe region... Stevie's, Joya and the Golf Club all do an excellent steak. I like mine rare and they all do what you ask. Good pepper sauces too...

Don't go to Guido's for the best steak available in Northern Cyprus, because we - and some other people in the know - do already. Big ones! Cooked exactly as you ordered. Not one reason to start a thread about too bl**dy steaks. But: don't try Guido's, some people don't want him to run out of his steaks...

Hey... just thought I'd put in my two pennies worth...

We have been there quite frequently over the last 5 years and have always been more than happy with the food and service.. we have been there twice in the last 2 weeks and both times, we've had excellent service and steaks cooked beautifully! As far as I'm concerned - still the best dining experience I have had in NC...

Happy for those who have recently enjoyed the food at the Ambience ..... we live here and gues that us and are other resident friends have been very unlucky ...... also the people over here who have simply been here on holiday. They certainly will not be passing on any good words and really that is the last thing that we want from anyone visiting here as anyone actually residing here may relent and give it another try (not us as 3 times bitten).... but holiday makers just pass on the info to others who may come for a holiday.

Went Ambience the other week, the food was OK, nothing special, the service was the slowest ever, friendly but so slow. Definatly not in a hurry to go back.

Address just around the corner was brilliant, the size of the t-bone steak, never seen anything like it Cook perfectly by the way. Even the size of the chicken breast was huge! Same prices as Ambience, same veiws (right on the beach), brilliant service and an amazing amount of food! The only bad thing was we couldn't finish it all!

Try Sirin Yali by Karsiyaka sea front (follow signs from Karsiyaka Square)

I had a T-bone there the other night that would feed a pensioner for a week and was delicious too

11 of us went to the Ambience & the service was terribly slow. The head waiter brought out a wrong starter & tried to blame us, we had to return a steak as it was not cooked as asked, also had to return a mushroom & chicken crepe as it only contained mushrooms. The soup (at 8.5 tl was approx 3 spoonfuls in the bottom of the bowl & cold. Half of us had our food & half didn't plus half of the table had salad, veg & chips & half had a plate with approx 8 chips on it. We were very polite but nothing was done. Definatley won't be going again, even though the setting is lovely.

I have been to Sirin Yali in Karsiyaka before and after it was taken over. When we went for lunch one day we were not offered a menu at all and were given what the chef decided to cook (fish). My husband was happy but I was not. I like to be able to choose what I want to eat. We used to go there a lot before it was taken over and there was a great choice of food back then and a menu.
