The gates will open at 5pm Saturday for the 'No BordersRock and Pop Festival'.

Food and drink available inside.

Cushions 50 kurus each.

The Belediyesi will NOT allow food or drink to be bought into the Amphitheatre - sorry guys and gals.

But it will not stop us all from having a night to remember, tickets are selling like hot cakes now.

Such a shame they won't let the coolbags in. Went to one down south quite a few years ago now, coolbags were allowed and amazing picnics came out of them. A chill out gig.

I fell a right Pratt, I have told people, yes to cool bags. I think this needs stating in Fri and Sat. News papers.

Only a certain percentage of people read the Forum.

If I had turned up with my cool box, and my choice of food etc. I would be well peaed off. As Mrs Snakes says, not everyone wants Burger and chips. or Efes.

We need to make everyone aware of this change. Also not all people can afford to buy food and drink out, especially if they have a family.

Gone to a few gigs in the Uk and took our cool bag. This makes the evening much more pleasant. If they want to make money out of the occasion why not make a realistic entrance fee and let people take food/drink.

Once again it smells of nepotism i.e. Son/Brother/Cousin running the refreshments.

My relations came here about 2 years ago and went to Salamis to another music event. They took a cool box (didn't realise they couldn't) Had to leave it outside the event. It spoiled their evening and will probably not go to another one.

What are the reasons for not taking a cool box?

Bob whilst I totally agree with your point of view and can imagine queues miles long at the bar with no one watching the show !! I understand (will stand corrected) that the Amphitheatre was "loaned" to the charity FOC provided the Girne Belediye had the benefit of the catering profits.! I can see their point of view but really do not like it ! I think Hal may be back at the negotiating table shortly but dont hold yer breath. regards barry

Bob, I do take offence, the British side of The Cheshire Homes have been working their butts off, at their own expense getting this concert together, and the generous outlets selling the tickets. All we have had to pay for is the lighting and sound system, at a reduced rate, and the posters, the rest of the entrance money will go to the charity. Snakes is correct, all the acts are performing free of charge, Pegasus provided 3 free tickets for members of Funky Monkey, Deniz Hotel are putting up one of the groups travelling from the south FOC, Iktisatbank printed the tickets FOC.

Very bad news about the cool bags after so many times being told they would be allowed.

I am really fed up re no cool bags. We are bringing 3 friends and promised them a great picnic. We all hate beefburgers so I suppose we will have to go hungry. I can also imagine huge queues for everything. If I had not paid out for the tickets I would not have gone and just given a donation.

Even in Uk where "elf and safety" is paramount we can go to concerts outdoors with a picnic and make a real good evening out.

Why oh why could someone not have told the organisers this at the outset? It is not their fault but I think quite a few people will be put out.

I am disgusted that the goal posts have been moved yet again, we invited friends along to the concert and we all planned on taking cool boxes and buying drink there but now you have changed the rules. we bought the tickets after you agreed/advertised cool boxes allowed i am so disappointed it has taken the glory away for me now.

I know the food is reasonable but we planned on being there many hours and a nibble on what WE like would have been nice, it's annoyed me that the rules have changed after I purchased the tickets.

Yes barno

Bloody typical

Fleece the Brits at the last minute again

I also bought tickets on the understanding it was for a good cause, and that you could take your own refreshments, I suppose they will forbid you to bring in your own cushions to sit on, let's get every penny we can out of the Brits,

Oh dear what a shame.. My worry is that we are all going to go hungry and thirsty all evening something I was not expecting. It also sounds like it will be a long night lets just hope we can get our drinks.

Is it just beer being sold? Do you know if there will be any wine/spirits... ?

Will still be a fantastic night but, as has been said, it is a pity the rules have changed... I think it will put off a lot of people who may have, otherwise, gone.

disappointing, we were just discussing shopping lists with friends for picnic food. Never mind hopefully music will still make it a great night, just hope there are enough food outlets to cater for all!

What a shame about the cool bags and picnics. Barry Snakes and all the others are working so hard for weeks on there song sets, rehearsing, I am listening to him right now from the studio and its sounding so good. Please still come everybody, we need you there!! I am not a fan of 'burger and chips' either and was looking foward to something else. Barry will need feeding as all the performers to keep going and Burger and Chips is not what he wants before he goes on stage!!!!! I hope that maybe Girne Belediye may change there minds? Please?

Really sorry about this guys, but it's out of our hands.

We agreed with Girne Belediye that we would man the gates and as such, I posted that we had no problem with people bringing coolboxes/picnics as long as there was no glassware. I got a phone call today from Girne Belediye saying that on no account could people bring their own food and drink into the amphitheatre, otherwise the gig would be off.

No way was I going to ask everyone to cancel, so I had to agree. I'll see tomorrow if they'll extend the range of food available but there's only a very basic kitchen so I doubt I'll get anywhere.

Can we at least take a bottle of water? If not what drinks will be available?

Would it matter if we turned up later say 8 ish so we could eat first?

Hal

It's not an ideal solution but would it be possible (and would people be interested) in there being a "fine" for bringing in a cool bag. such money, payable on the gate could go to the Belediye and compensate for the lost income.

It is by no means a correct or perfect solution but maybe worth a thought as a compromise. It is difficult because people are already paying for tickets and still fits the "fleece the brits" idea but at least people would be able to enjoy themselves as they intended and the Belediye would get the money.

I think all should read post 1 again it is the Belediyesi stating the ban on cool bags. and its quite simple either eat before and purchase your drinks or purchase both once there.Post 39 has also stated that its out of their hands ! Lets just hope we dont have to wait too long for anything and we have a good night to remember its all for a good cause I can just see the negative posting the next day ! shame !

Thank You SNAKES for your message and support.

Since we met a few weeks back as you know my focus was on producing a great event and raise some much needed money for the disabled on this island. You and the other acts have put great efforts and much time honing your performances to ensure that it will be a great fun night. The recent problems with ‘Cool Boxes’ is totally out of my control; therefore, I will extend my apologies to all.

There is and was no intention of misleading the public, or fleecing the public or making anyone feel a ‘Right Pratt’ and I will try at this late hour to enhance a solution. For those who make kind comments I thank you on behalf of the Home, those that post in a negative vain let us all hope they can do better!!!!!

Its such a shame but looks like its going to be chaos!!! People getting up and down all the time to get drinks/food/go to the loo. Hope there are enough loos if we all have to drink EFS all night!!!! Think Harold2555 (post 41) has the right idea. Don't think anyone will object to paying a fee to take in a cool box/bag - the Belediyesi will get their money for no effort and we will get our picnics! Everyone was so looking forward to the event but enthusiasm is waning - at least the charity won't lose out!!

I wonder!!! But they haven't agreed to allow coolboxes/bags in yet. The charity wouldn't expect part of the profit from food/drinks sales so lets just concentrate on getting our stuff in!

I wonder!!!! The charity would not expect a percentage of the profit made from food/drinks sales. However no agreement has been reached about charging to take coolboxes/bags in - lets just concentrate on that!

It seems to me that cool bags or no cool bags, we are all going to have a great night, so why all the fuss.

I think the answer is simply; Eat before you go and DO NOT spend any money whilst in there, that way no one outside of the charity, can profit off a charity event - seems fair to me.

I asked the Belediye about people paying to bring in coolboxes and the answer was an emphatic "No". I first posted that we organisers were manning the door and didn't have a problem with coolboxes, so I will take the flak for not foreseeing that the Belediye would refuse.

I don't think people realise how much work has gone into arranging this night, and it's really not fair to take it out on Scruffdog.

I will say that this is the first event of this kind that any of us have ever organised; a less motivated team would have given up a long time ago!

if this is the success that we hope it will be, we have ideas for something bigger and better next year, so let's all just enjoy ourselves.

And thanks to Neg Nick for giving me the first laugh on this thread!
