RE msg 1, Bernies: (...) DO you know an any isps that have had to or done as Paul Aldred aka washerman advised ?? (...)

=> For one reason or another technicians from Nethouse Networks ARE changing their (square) antennas at the moment (free and it only takes 30-45 minutes). They are now smaller (brand: Motorola) and rectangle shaped. Nethouse is doing this, I'm told for about 4000 customers. For what it's worth and I have NOT done any speedtests, but I have the "impression" that my Internet software reacts faster.

This affects EVERY Internet service provider and not, just the Internet Club.

Members that paid £280 for a recent installation needn't worry about this but Members who paid £80 for installation of equipment or, were installed before mid last year need to consider whether they want to purchase the new equipment and stay with the Internet Club.

Anyone that wants to stay with the Internet Club should now contact us to arrange for installation of the new 5.8 Ghz equipment and for the others that don't, I recommend that you contact another supplier who is prepared to leave this matter to the very last minute or, one day, risk losing your connection because we are asked to switch off our 2.4 Ghz equipment.

I have already negotiated a discount on a single order of 100 pieces that will reduce this cost to £200 for existing club Members that join in on the order. Please contact us to let us know whether or not you would like to be included in this initial order.

Wait a minute, Bernies! I didn't write my message to prove or show a (Paul Aldred) scam - I only replied with details as far as I know them to the question in your message number 1: (...) DO you know an any isps that have had to or done as Paul Aldred aka washerman advised ?? (...)

Everyone that paid to go on the 5.8 Ghz network (£147) had a new antenna installed AND had the same amount knocked off their next year's bandwidth payments. It cost everyone nothing!

I know that people don't like to get involved in this type of thing and I know that it's going back a bit but please, there must be some ex-internet club members that can remember?

Actually Hans, no it isn't, but it is a better system than the old 5.8Ghz. Bernies is going back to when TIC's network was 2.4Ghz and the Govt. passed a law that said all ISP's had to move to 5.8Ghz. eXtend upgraded all TIC's customers

Hans has confirmed that he remembers reading the report in the newspapers about ISP's having to use the 5.8Ghz radio frequency instead of the 2.4Ghz radio frequency. As far as the Internet Club was concerned, this meant that the equipment had to be upgraded. SO, Bernie's assertion is WRONG!

This claim has been made many times on this board so, I have dug out the list of people who paid for the upgrade and WHO, WERE REIMBURSED BY A REDUCTION IN THE COST OF THEIR NEXT YEAR'S BANDWIDTH PAYMENT (SO, IT COST THEM NOTHING) together with some other documentary evidence.

Now, obviously, I am not going to post it here! BUT, if Dave Gurr (Alsancakjack) or, Lilli or, someone else, agrees to be an impartial adjudicator, I am prepared to take this documentary evidence to show them. The evidence is irrefutable and proves that the upgrade didn't cost anyone anything. This libel can then, be refuted once and for all.

Personally, I doubt that they will want to get involved.

Harry, I know that we have had words about an unrelated matter and that you are upset with me, but does this justify your apparent lack of willingness to confirm a simple truth. You leave me no option:-

1. In February 2008, you made an advance payment of £140 (your memory is not that good) against 2009 bandwidth charges, to cover the cost of the equipment upgrade

2. You received the equipment upgrade.

3. You were re-imbursed from your next year's bandwidth payment - so, the upgrade didn't cost you anything (you paid a further £217 on 17th December 2008 - £140 + £217 = £357 (should have been £360) - you owe me £3. This gave you internet access to the end of December 2009

I can confirm that we got an upgrade from 2.4 to 5.8 ghz, paid for it up front and the full cost was deducted from the subsequent bandwidth payment in full.

I think an apology may be in order Bernies, or prove your unsubstantiated claim.

The question really is motive, Bernies, what prompted your posting of this thread, the implication of which is quite clear?

Someone trying to stir the shit and hoping something will stick is very very poor internet etiquette...

I know you have sort of apologised now (seems hardly unconditional to me) but why start it in the first place?

Hoping to sow seeds of mistrust?
