Blimey Amway, weren't they a pyramid selling outfit? - a real blast from the past....

I seem to remember an ex-colleague with a garage full of un-sold stock in the UK.

Oh my ex-colleague had loads of the stuff, he was told there would be loads Amway Agents buying it from him to sell on... what a mug!

Amway Agent = mugs, delusional, easily tricked, naive, unable to understand a con when they hear it, and too greedy to not be taken in....

This was the household cleaning product version of the Ponzi Financial (Scam) Scheme...

My bargepole is still available...

Amway stuff is rubbish, no wonder people just end up with garage's full of stock they can't sell, anyone who gets envolved with that idea wants their head testing.

I remember it well. A few people in my area thought they would get rich quick and although the products were O.K. (really) they were dearer than my supermarket stuff which was good enough for me.

But good luck toanyone who thinks they can slel them here. Maybe they have improved/ Maybe they are cheaper than (oops, how mmany years ago ?)

Maz I remember it well to. It was pyramid selling disguised as 'network' selling. The products were just OK, many, many people got sucked into a get rich quick scheme!

perhaps you experts should read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amway and note that two court cases have cleared the company of illegal pyramid selling. The company has 13,000 employees and this does not include the self employed distributors. The turnover is $8bn a year.

Yes, Mal, but I was merely pointing out that I didn't want them because of price, but I did know a lot of people who were, as someone said 'sucked in' on the grounds they would sell to others and make money, but when you are living in a small village there aren't enogh people for people to sell to other people to generate the money.

The term pyramid selling was disputed at the time, but it certainly sounded like it. but good to know that osme people make money out of things. As I say, I will stick with Mr pound!

I know somebody who was gullible enough to buy a massive stock of Amway personal rape alarms and had more incidents of being accused of molesting women in an attempt to offload them than he did "sales" at a loss. Eventually his garage and home had more false alarms than the entire 999 national network. He ended up shuffling around with pockets full of the things, hunched up like a Notre Dame escapee, shouting out " the bells, the bells" I suspect that even Esmerelda, who of course was at great risk from him, did not buy one. Ding b......y Dong, stick with "Avon Calling"

Just leeched this from Google:-

Finally, a worthy pyramid scheme! Simply send this e-mail to 9 of your mates... INSTRUCTIONS Anaesthetise your wife/girlfriend, put her in a large carton, (don't forget some ventilation holes), and send it to the person who is at the top of your list. Soon, your name will be at the top of the list, and you will receive 823, 542 women through the post. Statistically, among those women, there will be at least: * 0. 5 Miss Worlds,* 2. 5 supermodels,* 463 wild nymphos,* 3, 234 good-looking nymphos,* 20, 198 who enjoy multiple org**ms,* and 40, 198 bi-sexual women. In total, that is 64, 294 women who are simply hornier, less inhibited, and tastier than the miserable old cow you posted off. And, best of all, your original package is guaranteed not

One bloke for example who sent the letter to only 5 instead of 9 of hisfriends got his original bird back, still in the old dressing gown he senther off in, with the same old migraine attack, and the accusatorialexpression on her face. as an ex-Amway distributor who only resigned when I moved here, I'm afraid all the accusations that Amway promotes a pyramid selling system would be the same as accusing Asda of doing the same if a group of people devised a pyramid selling system using their products. Now, from what I remember, products were guaranteed 100% money back for 6 months and all these people with garages full of them perhaps should be reminded of that - http://www.moneystance.com/amway-reviews)

I can remember trying to get a customer to let me give them their money back because the didn't like the products and they just swore at me, told me it was all a con, and slammed the door on my face!
