mainland britain is placed on high alert following intelligance reports that republicans have access to weapons and bomb making ingrediants ,and are aiming these logistics at the british mainland , this terrorist state joined eu on the promise of reform , so much for reform , they probablly took the eu grants and invested it in buying more weapons.

I cant seriously believe, a la msg 1, that the "terrorist state" of Ireland is behind the most recent "attacks" which have not actuallly happened yet. It seems odd to suggest that Ireland, which has benefited from the EU teat as almost nobody else has, would jepoardize that by financially supporting some two-bit angry leftover wankers from Belfast. Lord knows this doesn't mean I support any of the provisional, real, true or whatever the hell they're calling themselves these days, but I find the first message blaming the entire country of Ireland for the alleged possible future actions of a very small group of ostracized individuals somewhat stupid.

@msg 7, msg 1 suggested that the gov't of the south of ireland (i.e. Rowlo's "the terrorist (that) state joined eu on the promise of reform") was very obviously NOT funding terrorist activities of extremist groups. I thought I made that very clear, by saying it was odd to suggest that Ireland would fund groups which would, if their govt funding were made known, ensure that they never benefited from EU funds again. I think you took me as saying that the Irish government was actually funding terrorism, wheras I was attempting to point out that that was a ridiculous idea. I apoligize for using Belfast as a marker, obviously they could come from Omagh, Armagh, Boston, Chicago or any number of other places.

@ lillli My apologies, I didn't mean to suggest any potential terrorists could only be from NI or the US, I was just responding to RaccoonChic. Obviously they could come from anywhere. Sadly terrorism is a global game these days.

Very recently, the news was dominated by embarrassing disclosures about the British "secret war" in Ireland. The British "security services" were confirmed as the most important and most ruthless terrorist organisation in Northern Ireland, having funded, trained and protected terrorists on both sides. Their victims included solicitors, pensioners and even their own agents. Come on ro Low is there no fight in yer belly!!

newscoop >>the IRA's credo is marxism'<< ??!! The whole point is that the IRA have agreed to stand by the Goof Friday Agreement and the wish of the majority of voters in Ireland Some believe that others 'sold out' - some made money from the troubles.. all the various factions of Nationalist and Loyalists had factions with differing ideals. So, any one still involved in resorting to 'violence' - as a means to achieving a their goal doesn't hold the support of a majority. I guess they may be impatient - as current demographic trends would suggest that those likely to be nationalists .. pro united ireland .. will eventually outnumber loyalists .. those wishing to remain part of the UK.. within a generation or two..

Many Europeans look at Northern Ireland or Ulster as a backward corner at the outskirts of civilised Europe. I've worked in Northern Ireland or Ulster and had some drinks in Protestant and Catholic pubs (yes, they were advertised this way by hotel owners: don't go there or don't go there - they like/dislike Dutch people there) - I must agree with my first line of this message.

As an ex serviceman with numerous tours of NI under my belt, it also makes my blood boil that the likes of Adams and McGuinness are at large and in official 'posts' as are known Loyalist terrorists. However, I would guess that for the majority of people in NI it is a price worth paying after 30 odd years of bloodshed - I for one don't blame them. Paul
