A Phishing email that purports to come from Paypal is doing the rounds - it comes from:

paypal@info.paypal.co.uk

It has all the right logos and looks official and asks for you account and/or credit card details

It's title begins with 'your name' followed by: "why your PayPal transaction was declined"

Bin it, don't click on any of the links and definitely don't sign in or, give your account or, credit card details!

From Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/securitycenter/general/UnderstandPhishing-outside

One of the very few genuine scams: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/paypal-new-message-phishing-scam.shtml

PS. Before sending everyone in your address book a warning of a scam email, please check if it's genuine by checking at http://www.hoax-slayer.com. 99% are just fake scams! They are not dangerous. This PayPal one is VERY DANGEROUS.

RE msg 2: Just for the record: not dangerous at all for Mac users. As almost always - or better: as usual.

Oh yes, Paul, they do! But the malware doesn't install into the Mac Operating System and if it does it doesn't work. Any idea (I bet you know) how many different pieces of malware there are for PC's? Don't look it up: MORE THAN ONE MILLION. Now look it up: how's the score for Macintoshes..?!

I won't mention here the superior Mac Firewall and the quality superior (not free!) software to control all incoming and outgoing traffic. In 27 years I have not had ONE Mac OS malware problem.

Hans, this is not malware, it is a Phishing scam distributed by email. Nothing on the Mac will protect you against that.
