Hi Ataturk, yes I can help you, but who is your internet connection in the UK with and what upload speed has it got? Is your office manned most days? Do you know how much it costs to keep your PC running 24/7? Are you doing it to save money or, for another reason, because in the end, it will cost you more than setting up a VPN connection with one of the UK's many service providers?

Hi Ataturk.. Suggest you buy a slingbox ( or similar) - as it configures a VPN for you and compresses the video - you don't need to keep a PC running at the UK end - it just plugs into the router. You can then view the content from anywhere in the world - if your uplink in the UK is good enough... at least 500 Kbs - preferably 750 Kbs and optimally over 1.8Mps for SD and 3Mps for HD content .. You can EVEN watch via your mobile ! You can get Freesat PVRs to store series or even a slingbox with a built-in Freeview receiver Washerman - LIVE UK tv broadcast is often NOT available via iplayer and the like.. due to rights issues:( examples: being 'Match of the Day' - which is on in a minute ( Sunday 26/9/2010 - 07:40 ) - but NOT available via iplayer

You shouldn't 'agree' with me.. MoD IS slowing live on iplayer - despite the schedule saying it wouldn't be available ;)

But your VPN won't let you access such sites as http://www.TVcatchup.com - to watch all live UK tv... :(

My setup is this. I have an office in London where the pc is kept on 24/7 as we have a server (you cant switch this off) o no problem with electric. I have remote access to the pc`s at any time so dont need staff to make any changes to the pc i can do it from here. Just really wanted to watch match of the day now and again. I have someone who knows how to do it but he is away at the moment. I dont think its difficult but cant find much on the net. Not really interested in paying for the service as I wont be using it much.

example for XP server: 1. Open Network Connections. 2. Click "Create a new connection" from the left menu. 3. Press Next. 4. Choose the fourth option (Create a connection for advanced users) and then press next. 5. Press Next. 6. Press Next. 7. Press Next. 8. Press "Create" button to create a new user. This user will be accessible by users who connect to your VPN. When you finish, press next. 9. Here, double click on the first choice (TCP/IP protocol) and choose the IP range. For example: [From: 192.168.68.1 To: 192.168.68.255]. Also check the last option (optional). Press ok and then press next. 10. Press finish. Now your VPN server is ready. 11. Go to your router configuration page and go to Port forward(ing) (or Virtual Server, NAT etc.) (cont)

12. First find your local IP Address by going to command line and typing "ipconfig". Then you'll see the following: IP Address. . . . . . . .: some-ip (this is your local ip address). Then add the following rules in port forwarding: ENTRY 1 Name: VPN1 Protocol: TCP and UDP Start Port Number: 1723 End Port Number: 1723 Local IP Address: [your PC local IP address] ENTRY 2 Name: VPN2 Protocol: TCP and UDP Start Port Number: 500 End Port Number: 500 Local IP Address: [your PC local IP address] That's all you need for the server end ..
