I know some plastic model builders that are good at scaring off buyers.

I don't think that the Falcons do much good. You can buy spikes in Marshalls and keep them off the ledges.

Ask mmmmmm to come and ist on a ledge for a day or, two. He looks a bit pale and could do with some sun and his ugly fizzog is enough to frighten anything away.

I used a plastic falcon and some tin foil on a rope but after a few days the birds get used to it and ended up sitting on the rope all night. Sometimes if you have a pool they will be there all the time for a drink, so best to let the pool drop down so they cant reach it, now the pools are not really being used.

One young chap I talked to here [Girne] had the 'pigeon problem' and told me he solved it by buying a small radio control helicopter and flying it close to his house - the pigeons soon cleared off somewhere else!

Apparently, go for a 'Chinook' with twin contra rotating blades, as these are the easiest to learn to fly. Don't get sucked into buying a single rotor with 'flybar' type - far too difficult to get the hang of flying - in fact *most people never do!

*Now I'll wait to be contradicted!

Cooper, from someone that restricts their posts to stupid Tommy Cooper jokes. I'll take that as a compliment.

A word of advice. For it to be funny , Tommy Cooper has to say it and you have to be looking at him at the time.

To trot it out in this media is very strange indeed, but then, if that is all that you have to say. What a valuable asset your are to this community!

There is a device, that is DIY, to catch pigeons, sparrows, etc.

Imagine a vertical box, made of plywood; it has a box on top with a trapdoor, and on the bottom it has larger box with a hinged and fastening door.

The idea is to put some corn, bread, etc on the top table - the bird stands on the table, falls through the trapdoor, down the vertical shute and into the holding box at the base.

I think these contraptions are for sale overseas, ready made - but doubt it in all of Cyprus. I haven't checked the relevant websites recently, but maybe there is a schematic drawing/plan for this easily home constructed gizmo.

Tenakoutou - what do you do with the pigeon when you have caught it?

I've seen the falcons on the top of houses. They usually have a pigeon sat on them!

I am using silhouettes, black, of falcons on the windows. It serves 2 purposes. It scares of birds and they are also not "bumping" into the windows by mistake.

I have not seen them here. I have a templet you can have, and I also have some silhouettes left. The templet is, of cause, only of use to you, if you can find strong, black, or red plastic here.
